Jaywon has been active in the Nigerian music scene for over thirteen years now, right from when he was a Kennis Music signee to being the CEO of Next World Music Record Label.   • Early Life and Education 

Jaywon, whose real name is Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, was born in Egbe, Kogi State, on June 6, 1986. He is a native of Egbe Mekun in Kogi State. He had his primary school education at ECWA Primary School before proceeding to Government Secondary School in Kogi State to obtain his secondary school education. After obtaining his SSCE, Jaywon went on to receive his tertiary education at Federal Polytechnic, Bida, where he graduated with a higher national diploma degree (HND) in Accounting.

  • Music Career

In 2005, Jaywon moved to Lagos State to pursue a career in music. In his second year in Lagos, Jaywon, then as an independent artist, had secured collaboration with artists such as Ray G, Sound Sultan, 2face, Slizzy E, and W4. In 2009, Jaywon secured a record deal with Kennis Music Record Label, months after he had impressed the label executive with his performance at the 2009 Kennis Music Fiesta. 

Jaywon released his first official body of work in 2009 titled Meet Jaywon, and two years later he dropped Meet Jaywon Reloaded, both released through Kennis Music. His first major song that enjoyed critical and commercial success was This Year (Odun Yi) which was released in December 2012. The song earned him an endorsement arrangement with PZ Cussons, allowing the company to use the song for promotional purposes. In 2013, he released an EP titled This Year (Odun Yi) which housed five tracks which include This Year (Odun Yi), From Anambra, Angelina, Madantin, and Tanawole. 

After about 4 years in Kennis Music,  Jaywon departed the record label to form his indie record label tagged Next World Music. Through his label, Jaywon released some songs which featured artists like Vector, Reekado Banks, and Reminisce, in preparation for his third music album, Oba Orin.  In 2016, Jaywon released his much-anticipated third album, Oba Orin. The album was the first album that was released through his record label, Next World Music.  The album enjoyed support from guest appearances from Reekado Banks, May D, Phyno, Oritse Femi, Obesere, Mode 9, and 9ice, among others. Some songs in the Oba Orin album include My Way, Fog, Back to Sender, Kule Lori, Back Home, Gbadun, Paraga, and PFM (Mama).

On June 25, 2020, Jaywon released a 10-song extended playlist (EP) tagged Aje, which featured Save Fame, Zlatan, Phyno, Barry Jhay, IDYL, QDot, Keke Ogunde, and Umu Obiligbo, among others.  The team that was involved in the production of the EP consist of Blaq Jerzee, Irockclassic, Soularge, Don Adah, Tefa Phynest, and Xsmile. 

 Jaywon’s fourth studio album tagged Jahbalee through Next World Music, in March 2022. The 14-track album features several artists, including Seyi Vibez, Raybekah, Jaywillz, Timaya, Portable, Femeye, Medikal, Donna, Namenji, Kerwin Du Bois, and Tanashe. Some of the songs of the album include Remember, Don’t Leave Me, City of Love, Don’t Stop, Caribbean Queen, So in Love, and On God. 

Aside from being a singer and songwriter which he is widely known, Jaywon also produces songs and even acts. Jaywon was part of the cast of  Army of the Thieves.

Jaywon left Kennis Music in 2013 to form his indie record label, Next World Record Label.
