Music Career of Portable
Portable relocated to Lagos State from Ogun State to pursue a career in music since Lagos presented a better opportunity to break into the music industry. In 2020, Portable dropped his first body of work, an extended playlist (EP) titled Wanted, which contained six songs. These songs include Folohunsho, Konkobility, Olori Kori, Popoli, Soro Soro, and Sulia Kan. Unfortunately, these songs failed to gain traction enough to penetrate the music industry.
In 2021, Portable, through the help of Poco Lee and Kogbagidi, met with Olamide. And by December 2021, Portable featured Olamide and Poco Lee on Zazoo Zehh, which became a massive hit across Nigeria. This song was what brought Portable into the limelight. The song was produced by P. Prime. Zazoo Zehh topped several Nigerian music charts. Zazoo Zehh debuted at number 15 on Billboard Triller Global, moving up to the 14th position in the second week on the chart. Zazoo Zehh peaked at number 1 on Apple Music Nigeria; number 1 on iTunes Chart; and number 18 on Radio Chart. Earlier in 2021, Portable released Ogo Forever and All Eyes on Me, which featured Barry Jhay and Small Doctor, but they didn’t receive the sort of nationwide commercial success Zazoo Zehh enjoyed.
In the first quarter of 2022, following his new-found fame brought about by the success of Zazoo Zehh, Portable dropped his second extended playlist titled Zazuu Zeh. This EP was produced by Professional Beat and there were no guest artists on any of the six tracks. The songs that make up the EP include Adura, Gasolo, My Way, Ojabo Kofo, Oro Owo, and Tambolo.
Towards the end of 2022, precisely November, Portable dropped his first studio album titled Ika of Africa. The album contained 16 tracks with no guest appearances from other singers. The songs in Ika of Africa combine several genres of music such Afro-fusion, Fuji and Amapiano. The songs in this album include Kosalabaro, Apostle, Plan B, Agbara, Wonmo, Kayamata, Woto Woto, Street Ti Take Over, Hello Baby, Oluwa Where You Dey, Get Money First, Werey Alasho, Ji Masun, Ika, Grateful, and Anonymous Eyon Pablo.
Portable has also been featured in several songs by Nigerian singers such as C Blvck, Vicky Reign, OlaDips, OV Billion, Humble Smith, Oritse Femi, and Ayanfe Viral, among others.
