There are gaps that exist between human rights standards and the enforcement of such rights in Nigeria. Human Rights organizations advocate for the promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights on the guiding precepts of democracy, accountability and respect for the rule of law. To do this effectively, Human Rights organizations engage in monitoring, investigation, documentation and dissemination of information pertaining to human rights in order to achieve prevention of human rights abuses and also to safeguard the human rights of citizens against violations by government and other actors.

Conclusion
The core objective of Human Rights organizations is the protection of the rights of individuals in society. These organizations are usually not for profit. Some of the functions of Human Rights organizations include the protection of vulnerable groups in the society from abuse and violation, empowering the people to stand up in the face of abuse through encouraging freedom of speech and expression, provision of access to education to members of the society not well off to afford basic education, and also the provision of a universal standard by which holds the government accountable for their actions and policies. The Nigerian 1999 Constitution and the Nigerian Human Rights Act of 2010 as amended offer the framework on which Human Rights organizations operate.
