  • Career History of Pheelz

Pheelz has been in the Nigerian music industry for over a decade now, starting as a music producer before he added singing later on. In this section of the article, we’ll be discussing Pheelz’s career in two segments, that is, as a music producer and a singer.

  • Career as a Music Producer

Immediately after completing his secondary education at Comprehensive High School, Pheelz went to work under I.D. Cabassa at Coded Tunes as a music producer. Pheelz has attributed Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Cohbams Asuquo, Don Jazzy and I.D Cabassa as the record producers that influenced his decision to become a record producer.

While Pheelz was working as a record producer for Coded Tunes, he produced several songs for the musical artistes signed to the record label. Olamide was signed to Coded Tunes at the time Pheelz worked there, so Pheelz produced many songs off Olamide’s initial two albums, YBNL and Baddest Guy Ever Liveth. When First of All and Fucking with the Devil, off the YBNL album, became chart-topping singles nationwide, Pheelz had his breakthrough as a record producer. What’s more, since Pheelz produced all but one song on the Baddest Guy Ever Liveth album, his popularity as a record producer grew even further, earning a nomination at The Headies 2013.

As he began gaining ground in the music industry following the success of Olamide’s albums, Pheelz produced and was credited with numerous albums and popular songs of musical acts such as M.I., Tiwa Savage, and Runtown. In 2014, he teamed with COPILOT Music and Sound to produce a cover of Carlinhos Brown’s Maria Caipirinha, which was used as a digital campaign for the 2014 World Cup. To date, Pheelz has been nominated about a dozen times for his role as a music producer, winning the Producer of the Year category at The Headies 2020 edition.
