  • Early Life of Blaqbonez

Blaqbonez was born Emeka Akumefule, on January 29, 1996, into an Igbo family. He hails from Imo State but grew up exposed to the cultures of the Yoruba and Urhobo tribes. Unlike most musicians that had always developed an interest in music at a young age, Blaqbonez did not, instead, he was fond of criticizing rappers.

His interest in music was ignited by happenstance after his cousin challenged him to produce rap lyrics after they had listened to a 12-year-old rap on the radio. In a few minutes, young Blaqbonez, just a teen at that time, wrote his first song as dared by his cousin. And that is how Blaqbonez’s interest in rap music was ignited, but his parents did not support his new-found hobby so he secretly pursued his passion until he got into the university.
