As we stated in the trailing paragraph, T.I. Blaze’s interest in music can be traced to when he was a secondary school student. However, he started writing and putting out his music for public consumption in 2020 as an independent artist. Some of his earliest songs include Tomiwa, Bailey’s Anthem, and Zero Joy. These songs were put on several digital streaming platforms and he gradually began building a fan base that enjoyed his songs.  Later that year, he dropped his first extended playlist tagged New Generation, which contained his earliest singles.

His debut EP and earliest singles didn’t do much to put him in the spotlight. He was still an unknown upcoming artist at the time who still struggled with the harsh economic realities he faced. This struggle would lead him to write a song titled Sometimes, which he casually released in August 2021. In the song, T.I. Blaze spoke about the struggles many people are faced with and how they deal with such struggles. A popular line of the song that went viral is, “…sometimes, food no dey give man joy…But Canadian loud the feelin’ is different…”.

T.I. Blaze’s single, Sometimes, became a viral hit song across the country. Moreso, Olamide even shared the cover art of the song on his Instagram Story which further made the song more popular. T.I. Blaze, on seeing what Olamide did by promoting his song pro bono, reached out to Olamide via his DM and asked if he could be on the remix of Sometimes. And Olamide accepted and invited him over to his residence so they could work on the remix.

In January 2022, T.I. Blaze released the remix of Sometimes, featuring Olamide. The song became an instant hit across Nigeria and several other countries and ushered T.I. Blaze into the limelight. Sometimes remix enjoyed massive airplay across radio and television stations as well as millions of streams and downloads on digital streaming platforms. Soon, the catchy lyrics of the song became some sort of urban slang in most cities in Nigeria.

Following the positive reception of the Sometimes remix, T.I. Blaze seized the new-found fame and in February 2022, he released his second extended playlist, which he titled The Fresh Prince of Lagos. The EP contained 6 tracks with Olamide, Barry Jhay, Blxckie, and Rasaqi NFG as guest artists. The songs include: Sometimes, Sometimes (remix), Try, Basic, Oba, and Gbedu.
