YBNL Nation Crew: Who is Who?

For those who don’t know, YBNL simply means “Yahoo Boy No Laptop”, from a song which was one of the CEO’s hit singles of 2011. The trademark black writing on yellow background logo is one of the fast rising record labels in the Nigerian music industry. YBNL nation crew is based in Lagos and it’s a record label that consists of five artistes.

So who is who in the YBNL Nation Crew? Who’s the boss? Who are the artistes? and what more does the YBNL Nation Record Label stand for?

Olamide Adedeji A.K.A Olamide Badoo, Badoo Sneh

Olamide, also known simply as Olamide Badoo or Badoo Sneh ( a self-acclaimed name to promote the release of his hit single “Lagos Boys”) is the Founder/Chairman/CEO and whatever relevant name you choose to call it; of the YBNL Record Label. He formed the record label shortly after the release of the song that bears the same name with label and probably spurred him to break out of Coded Tunes and do his thing his own way. Olamide has since released three albums under the record label with the latest being the recent “Eyan Mayweather”. He has also gone on to sign a few artistes and producers to his label.

Keshinro Ololade A.K.A Lil’ Kesh

Lil Kesh was the first singer, rapper and songwriter signed to the YBNL Nation music record label. He rose to fame after his chart-topping song titled “Shoki” rose to critical acclaim from music critics. Lil’ Kesh is from Bariga but being from the same place with the boss wasn’t the criteria. His talent, ability to deliver and “street love” made him a good fit.

Adekunle Kosoko A.K.A Adekunle Gold

Adekunle Gold was signed to YBNL Nation in 2014. His cover of the UK music band – One Direction’s “Story Of My Life” which he sang as “Sade”, received massive airplays on various Nigerian radio stations and it was probably what prompted Olamide to sign him to his record label. His follow-up single, titled “Orente”, also received positive reviews from music critics and he has gone on to release other songs.

Oladipupo Olamide Emmanuel A.K.A Chinko Ekun

Chinko Ekun was a surprise signing for the YBNL record label but in some sense, the lad hasn’t failed to deliver. Chinko Ekun grew up in Ikotun, Lagos state but he hails from Ondo state. He was signed in 2014 and has since gone on release singles like “Alejo Oran”, “Emi Na Re”, and “Ekun” which was his first official track. Chinko Ekun got his name from his “Tiger-Like” photo pose and the stints of an Asian language he creatively inserts in his songs.

Victor Ehureme A.K.A Viktoh

Viktoh was one of Olamide’s dancers and stunt performer but he used to hang around the studio a lot. He did a single titled “Skibi Dat” and to Olamide’s surprise, it gained massive airplay and public acceptance, prompting the YBNL boss to sign him up. He’s since gone on to release singles like “All My Ladies” and “Instagram Police”.

The YBNL Record label has two main producers for their sound mix and track beats. They are “Pheelz (Mr. Producer)” and “Young John (The Wicked Producer)”. YBNL Soldiers have publicly stated that their relationship with Olamide is more like a brother than a boss.
