Early Life

Nouah was born on the 19th of December 1970. He was born in Edo State to an Israeli father and a Yoruba mother. His mother hails from Owo in Ondo State. The actor grew up in Surulere and obtained his education in Lagos.

Nouah recently cleared the air about his background when he revealed that he is 100% Nigerian based on his passport. Although, part of his ancestry can be traced to Israel and Lebanon, but he doesn’t carry a passport of either countries and he has never visited these nations.

Education

Nouah attended Atara Primary School and Community Grammar School. He received a diploma in Mass Communications from the University of Lagos before proceeding to focus on his acting career.

Awards

Nouah won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2010. This award was due to his role in the movie, Figurine.

Career

Nouah shot into prominence when he starred in the Nigerian TV soap opera, Fortunes. He has been tagged Nollywood Lover Boy due to his frequency with which he plays romantic roles in movies.

Africa Cinematography Festival (ACF)

Ramsey Nouah was one of the movie stars from major countries in Africa to be unveiled by ACF.  Others include Lizzette Benz (Cameroon),   Ama Konadu Abebrese (Ghana), Ayuk Tambi Atem-Ebai (Cameroon), Princess Shyngle (Gambia), Oghenekaro Itene (Nigeria), Thandekile Grace Majek (South Africa); Sandra Seghers Mushid (Democratic Republic of Congo), Major Esau Owusu Danshaw (Liberia), Assina Obela (Congo)and Serge Patrick Laleye (Benin Republic).

The ACF is a platform for training in film production as well as networking among African film-making industry players, actors, youths, entertainment guilds/associations, stakeholders, University Students, would-be young entrepreneurs and other interested participants. It includes an annual six-day conference for these training in filmmaking, production, IT management in media/film production, sound designing/production, acting, use of camera/lens technology, directing, audiovisual/still photography, view-finding, production designing, film editing, light designing/production, costuming and makeup artistry.

‘76

Ramsey Nouah played the role of Captain Joseph Dewa in the movie ’76. According to him the movie was very challenging aS he spent two to three months undergoing rigorous military training

The film was shot in 2012 but it didn’t come out until 2017. It was shot at the Mokola barracks in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to the actor, when he saw the movie script, he looked forward to the role and thankfully it came out well.

Nouah featured alongside Rita Dominic and Chidi Mokeme in the movie.

My Wife and I

Nouah played another challenging role when he featured in Omoni Oboli’s movie, My Wife and I.

According to him, it was quite challenging because he has done something like that before, although he had played an undercover female in a past movie.

In the movie, he played the role of Toyosi Akinyele. According to the plot, Toyosi and his wife, Ebere had an unhappy marriage and following the visit of their pastor, the couple woke up in each other’s bodies and was unable to switch.

The movie was directed by Bunmi Ajakaiye and was released in 2017.

Family

Nouah is married to Emelia Philips-Nouah and they have three children together. Their first child is a girl, Quincy while the other two are boys, Camil and Desiree.

In a recent interview, the actor revealed that people should not start marriage based on beauty because it will fade. Nouah believes it is companionship that sustains marriage and that is what has kept his marriage in tact all these years.

According to him, there should be something about your wife or husband that brings you back. It could be his/her sense of humour, the care you receive or the food.

According to Nouah, his wife is the powerhouse of his home and she’s the glue that has kept them together all these years.

Also, the actor revealed that he esteems his wife above every other woman. He revealed that his wife is an amazing woman and she’s just like his mother.

Nollywood

In response to opinions in several quarters that there is an old and a new Nollywood, Nouah has stated that the film industry is changing.

He agreed that things are changing but it’s nothing more than a transition as the truth still remains that they are all actors/actresses as it has always been.

Being a celebrity comes with pros and cons, and Nouah is certainly not left out. According to him, fans often expect him to respond to their greetings with some money. Also, the female sometimes go as far as kissing him whenever they see him.

Hobbies

Nouah loves to play golf, basketball, football and tennis in his free time. He also engages in martial arts, boxing, swimming, and cycling.

Nouah recently signed a juicy deal with Western Lotto as a brand ambassador for the betting company. He has also endorsed brands like Glo and in the past.
