Ini Edo is a popular Nigerian actress. She has featured in movies like Ass on Fire, Breath Again, Fatal Seduction, Games Men Play, Girls Cot, The Greatest Sacrifice and Married to the Enemy.

Early Life

Ini Edo hails from Akwa Ibom State. She is an Ibibio. Her mother was a class teacher while her father was a church elder. She is the second of four children. According to her, the combination of a teacher and church elder as parents meant she had quite a strict upbringing.

Education

Edo attended Cornelius Connely College in Calabar for her secondary school before proceeding to the University of Uyo for a Diploma in Theatre Arts. She would later enrol at the University of Calabar where she bagged a Bachelor’s degree in English.

In 2014, she was awarded a scholarship to study law at the National Open University of Nigeria.

Career

Ini Edo debut as an actress in 2003 when she featured in the movie, Thick Madam. She was discovered by a producer at an audition she attended.

But it was the movie, World Apart that shot her to prominence which was released in 2004. Edo has featured in over 100 movies since she debuted as an actress. In 2013, the actress was one of the judges for the Miss Black Africa Beauty Pageant in the UK.

Philanthropy

Her philanthropic gesture has earned her an appointment with the United Nations as a Youth Envoy.

Endorsement

She was a GLO brand ambassador for 10 years from 2006 to 2016. She was also the brand ambassador of Noble Hair in 2010. Currently, she is the brand ambassador of SlimTea Nigeria.

Political Appointment

Ini Edo is currently the Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Culture and Tourism. She was appointed by the governor, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel in 2016.

Marriage      

Ini Edo got married in 2008 to American based businessman, Phillip Ehiagwina in 2008. The marriage had allegations of cheating and domestic violence which led to the actress walking out of the marriage in September 2014.

The actress cited irresolvable differences and incompatibility as the major reasons for the crash of her marriage.

Edo also revealed that the distance was one of the things that contributed to the crash of her marriage as she was based in Nigeria while her husband lived in America.

Dating

Recently, the media was agog with rumours of Ini Edo touring beautiful places in Europe with an unnamed lover. But it seems the actress has been able to shield this part of her private life from the prying eyes of the public.

Networth

Ini Edo owns a house in Lekki which is worth an estimated N70 million. She is also a lover of cars with a Mercedes G-Wagon G-65, Range Rover SUV and BMW X5 as some of the exotic cars in her garage.

Relationship with Mike Godson

Recently, a picture surfaced on the internet in which an actor, Mike Godson was sharing the same bed with Ini Edo and the media was rife with speculations that the couple were in a romantic relationship.

But the actor has since dispelled the rumour although he admitted that he has a close relationship with Edo but according to him, it is a very platonic one.

Apparently, the purported picture was a scene from a movie.
