  • Early Life and Education

Poco Lee, whose real name is Pascal Odinaka Iweh, is the third of five children of Mr. Kenneth Iweh and Mrs. Augustina Iweh. He was born on October 21, 1996. Although Poco Lee hails from Orlu in Imo State, Poco Lee was born and raised in Lagos State, where he still lives to this day. 

Poco Lee had his primary school education at Navy Primary School, Okokomaiko, in Ojo, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC). He proceeded to attend Command Day Secondary School, Ojo Barracks where he sat for and passed his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE). It was during his elementary and secondary school days that Poco Lee developed an interest in dancing. He was fondly called ‘Poco a Poco’ while in secondary school. He then added ‘Lee’ to the nickname so it’d be unique, hence Poco Lee. 

After secondary school, he got admitted to Lagos State University (LASU) to study Microbiology. As a university student, Poco Lee engaged in street dance and other dance competitions organized within LASU and its environs. It was during one of those events that Poco Lee had his big break after a video showing him dancing Legwork to Zlatan’s hit song, Zanku, went viral in 2019. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology in 2019 from Lagos State University (LASU).

Poco Lee had always been involved In dancing right from his secondary days to when he was a student at Lagos State University. While a student of LASU, Poco Lee danced in street dancing competitions and social events within his school’s vicinity. In one such event hosted at Lagos State University (LASU) in 2019, Poco Lee was videoed dancing to the trending dance move at the time known as Zanku (or Legwork).  

The video of Poco Lee dancing to Zlatan’s Zanku hit song soon went viral on the internet after a popular Instagram influencer known as Tunde Ednut reposted the clip on Instagram. In no time, the video was shared by many more Nigerian celebrities on their social media handles. Zlatan Ibile who is credited as the originator of the Zanku (or legwork) dance moves, soon reached out to Poco Lee. Zlatan offered to pay Poco Lee to dance in the video of the hit single, Zanku, which was yet to be released at the time. Poco Lee agreed to the offer and made his debut appearance as a dancer in major Afrobeats hit video. 

Poco Lee has since been featured as a dancer in several music videos of Nigerian musicians such as Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Niniola, Naira Marley, and Jamo Pyper among others. Some of the music videos he’s appeared in include, Killin’ Dem, Am I A Yahoo Boy, Oyi, This Year, and Osanle. 

Aside from being featured in videos, Poco Lee also shares the stage with top musical artists such as Wizkid, Reekado Banks, Naira Marley, Zlatan, and Niniola among others. He has also been invited to dance at several international events such as the One Africa Music Festival which was hosted in Dubai, and the Valentine’s Jamboree Concert hosted in Nairobi, Kenya.
