Mike Ezuruonye is a popular Nigerian actor. The actor has featured in over 100 Nollywood movies since he debuted as an actor.

Early life and Education

Mike was born on the 20th of September, 1982. He hails from Uzoakoli in Abia State in Nigeria.

The actor grew up in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin. His father had some investments in that area which was the reason they lived in that part of Lagos.

Mike revealed that he had a very humble beginning although his family was never poor and he didn’t lack anything. They later moved to the Ilupeju area of Lagos.

He attended the Federal Government College, Taraba and Archbishop Aggey Memorial School, Lagos before proceeding to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University where he studied Accounting.

Career

Mike’s sojourn into acting happened by chance. He was spotted by producer, Ruke Amata while buying fuel at a filling station however, it was movie director Dickson Iroegbu that gave Mike his big break when he featured in the movie, Broken Marriage.

The actor often plays the role of the handsome prince in several Nollywood movies. Some of the movies he has featured in include Endless passion, Critical decision, Unforeseen, Occultic Kingdom, and Beyond Reason

Awards

He received two nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008 and 2009.

The actor also received a nomination for Best Actor at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Personal life

Mike is married to Nkechi Nnorom and they have a son, Reynold Nkembuchim Ezuruonye. The actor has a younger sister, Chichi, who works as a physician in the UK.

Movies

Mike is often known to play the character of a handsome prince or bad boy. But recently, the actor drifted into a comic role in a movie he produced. According to the actor, he sees himself as a versatile entertainer and he often loves to challenge himself to play new roles.

The actor also produced Lagos Real Fake Life which was shot in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The movie featured the likes of Odunlade Adekola, Mercy Aigbe, Nedu of Wazobia and Ike Ogbonna.

Embarassing moment

The actor revealed that his first time outside the country was after he became a movie star. When he got to the arrival hall of the airport, a couple of ladies rushed at me. They hugged me and started kissing his face.

This led to Mike and his fans fall right to the ground and when he looked up moments later, he saw many people laughing at him.

Controversy

A lady once posted on her social media page that the actor wasn’t who he claims to be insinuating that he is a fraudster.

Mike has since come out to refute the allegation by stating that he is not a fraudster and that someone was impersonating him using his pictures. In fact, the actor revealed that he had privately caught some of the boys that were impersonating him and the Police were already on the case.

Generally, the actor has managed to steer clear of controversies although he revealed that he has had some interesting experiences with fans.

One of such happened when he was in South Africa and a plus-sized immigration officer jumped on him and they both fell down together and everyone was laughing at them.

Nollywood

According to Mike, Nollywood is a growing industry which has evolved beyond the shores of the nation. The actor also mentioned that the production and technical knowledge in Nollywood has been improving.

Success

The actor attributes his success to God, prayer and passion for what he does. Mile also revealed that he is quite creative and he has learnt to time his decision in the industry which has greatly helped his career move in an upward trajectory.

Recently, the popular musician, 2Face Idibia revealed that he was going to stage a protest with regards to the bad economic situations in the country and Mike was one of the celebrities that supported him.

Unfortunately, the protest was eventually cancelled due to threats to the popular musician. 

Favorite meal

Mike’s favourite food is yam porridge while his favourite drink is fruit juice.

Favourite colleague

Although the actor disclosed that he didn’t have any favourites in the industry. He has a lot of friends among his colleagues. Some of these include Odunlade Adekola, Iyabo Ojo, Dayo Amusan Ali Nuhu, Angela Okorie, Annie Macaulay and a host of others.

Mike featured alongside Dayo Amusan, Odunlade Adekola, Merch Aigbe and Iyabo Ojo in the movie, Unforgivable.

The movie was directed by Desmond Elliot. The movie is a love story gone sour. The plot is about a good-looking University undergraduate who fell in love with another undergraduate, Dayo Amusan.

Unfortunately he didn’t have the guts to approach her, but his roommate which was played by Mike who is a womanizer succeeded in wooing her and she fell in love with him. Interestingly, despite his philandering behaviour she stuck with him and they got married but after their marriage, things got worse and the end was disastrous.
