Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha is a prominent Nollywood actress. She has featured in over 100 movies since she debuted as an actress.

Early Life
Chioma Akpotha was born on the 12th of March 1980 to a large middle class Christian family. She was born in Oraifite in Anambra State in Nigeria to Mr Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka and Grace Egoyibo Chukwaka
She attended Onward Nursery and Primary School before proceeding to the Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, Anambra.
Akpotha studied Banking and Finance at the Lagos State University. According to the actress, it was her parents that influenced her decision to study this course at the University.
Awards
The actress won the 2007 Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a leading role for her role in the movie, Sins of the Flesh. She also received the Afro Hollywood Award for Best actress in a lead role in 2010.
Akpotha was nominated for the Brand Ambassador of the Year during the 2014 ELOY Awards.
Career
Akpotha’s acting career began in 2000 when she starred in the movie, The Handkerchief. Her parents were initially skeptical about her ambition to become an actress. In fact, her mother felt that actresses were naturally wayward people.
Since her acting debut, the actress has starred in over 100 movies and her family have being supportive although her parents her late but she still receives ample support from her husband.
The actress has also been involved in some movie production. She co-produced and starred in the blockbuster “On bended knees”.

Favourite Movie
According to the actress, her favourite movie is the Apple which was released in 2000. She played the role of a stubborn teenager in the movie that wanted to get married because she thought she was ready. Akpotha mentions that the role was a fit for her personality when she was that age.
Roles
Most people see Akpotha as a good person because of the nature of the role she often plays. However, the actress claims she’s quite versatile but it just happens that producer prefer her to play the good girl role because she tends to act it really well.
Endorsement Deals
Chukwuka was Globacom brand Ambassador a few years ago. She has signed endorsement deals with the likes of Omo Detergent and Harpic Cleaner.
Personal life
Akpotha got married in 2006 to Franklyn Akpotha and they currently have 3 children together.

Akpotha mentions Kate Henshaw, Joke Silva and Ramsey Nouah as her role models in Nollywood.
She also won the African Film Awards UK for best actress in English language in 2010.
Gulder Ultimate Search
Akpotha participated in the Celebrity Edition of Gulder Ultimate Search in 2010. She was known for her caustic attitude which was very unlike the role she plays in movies. After the show ended, the actress revealed that she acted that way just show her fans that she’s not a stereotyped person like what is portrayed by her roles in Nollywood movies.

Akpotha revealed that she doesn’t grant interviews frequently as she’s a very homely person.

Akpotha has also disclosed that her best food is beans and plantain and that she’s a fan of SUVs particularly Toyota RAV 4 and the BMW X6 series.
