Zubby Michael is a Nollywood actor, model, television personality, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. The actor is popularly known for playing bad boy roles and he is sometimes called, ‘the gun carrying actor’.

Early life

Zubby was born in February 1985 in Okwusigo Local Government Area in Anambra although in grew up in Adamawa where he had his primary and secondary education before proceeding to the university in Enugu.

The actor revealed in an interview that he was brought up in a wonderful home. His father was a businessman while his mother was a teacher.

Zubby also talked about his experience growing up in the North during the interview. According to Zubby, Northerners are wonderful and lovable people especially those with open hearts.

Zubby recalls one of his childhood experiences growing up. According to the actor, he used to drive his father’s car when he wasn’t around so there was a particular day that he didn’t know his father had arrived home and when he found out, he ended up smashing the car into another car in the compound out of fear. That day, his father gave him the beating of his life. He passed out at some point and was revived with water.

Education

The actor had his elementary education in Adamawa before enrolling at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nsukka, Enugu State, where he obtained a degree in Mass Communication.

Career

Zubby began his acting career when he was eight in Yola, Adamawa state. Before he began featuring in movies, he was involved in television soap operas and was part of the cast of the 2006 drama, ‘Coded Hussle’. This was the same year he joined Nollywood professionally in 2006 and acted in his first movie.

The actor revealed in an interview that his acting career started in Asaba where he met a producer who introduced him to the industry. It was this chance meeting that led him to feature in his first movie, ‘Missing Rib’. Zubby further disclosed that it was a great experience working with stars like Ramsey Noah and Tonto Dike among others.

Zubby became popular in Nollywood when he featured in “The Three Windows”, “Royal Storm”, and “Professional Lady”. He played the lead role in The Three Windows where he featured alongside Justice Esiri, Oge Okoye and Ngozi Ezeonu among others.

Action movies like “Princess Rihanna” and “Implication” also made him quite popular.

The actor has featured alongside A-stars like Jim Iyke, Ini Edo, Tonto Dike, Mike Ezuruonye, Nonso Diobi, Oge Okoye, Patience Ozokwor, Olu Jacobs, John Okafor (Mr Ibu), Sam Dede, Uche Jumbo, Nkem Owoh, Majick (Ghana), John Dumelo, Mercy Johnson, Van Vicker, Junior Pope, Chacha Eke, Emeka Ike, Uche Ogbodo, Kenneth Okonkwo, Jack Appiah and a host of other Nigerian and African movie stars.

Zubby has also been involved in movie production. He produced the movie, ‘First Hit’ which featured the likes of Ngozi Ezeonu, Chikwetalu Agu, Nonso Diobi, Ebere Okaro, Junior Pope, Harry B Anyanwu and Terry G.

Zuby’s acting career has been laced with accolades. These include the Most Promising actor in Nigeria at the City People Entertainment Awards; Best actor of the year at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Best actor in a supporting role at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Dating

Zubby was once in a romantic relationship with the youngest sister of Peter and Paul Okoye other wise known as P square. They met at the traditional marriage of Mike Ezuruonye. However, their relationship was shortlived as they broke up after dating for some time. Zubby revealed in an interview that the reason for the breakup was because he wasn’t ready to settle down.

The actor further revealed that there is no need rushing into marriage when you still have some things in your mind you want to achieve in the future. Although he revealed that he can still marry her if she is still available by the time he is ready.

When asked about his ideal woman, Zubby revealed that he really doesn’t know what his ideal woman should be like but he knows he wants to marry a loyal, prayerful, intelligent and beautiful woman that makes him happy.

Networth

Zubby is one of the richest and influential actors in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $450,000. The actor recently completed his multimillion naira mansion in Lagos.

Zubby is quite good-looking, as a result, he has many female admirers. The actor revealed that sometimes fans call him at odd hours but he tries to be polite so that he will not be misinterpreted.

Also, he disclosed that when he tells them he is busy working on set they respond by saying, ‘because you are a celebrity you don’t want to talk to me?’

The actor talked about the fact that many girls crush on him especially on social media but he further revealed that they are his fans so he treats them with respect.
