Olubowale Victor Akintimehin who simply goes by the name “Wale” is an American rapper from Washington DC. He was born on September 21, 1984 in Washington, DC. His parents are Nigerian immigrants who came to America from Austria in 1979. Wale eventually dropped out from school as a result of intimidations and continuous professor issues.

Wale is a very popular name globally and he is worth more than most people think. He is a quiet person and not too much of one with unnecessary youthful exuberance. Wale is one of the richest rappers to ever emerge from Washington DC and he rose to limelight with his hit single “Dig Dug (Shake it) in 2006. In the same year, music producer Mark Ronson discovered Wale and signed him to Allido Records in 2007.

Wale makes money from his shows, track releases, album sales, endorsement and his tours. Wale is a versatile rapper who according to him, combines a bit of go-go in his rap. The talented artiste has over 40 tracks to his name and has sold over 50 million combined copies of his albums. Speaking about albums, his debut album was released in 2009 and titled “Attention Deficit”. After much competition from DefJam records, Interscope records, Allido records (for renewal) and a number of others, he signed for Interscope records.

The $1.3M sign on fee with Interscope records was one of the highest an artiste has ever signed for. Wale’s five albums include Attention Deficit, Ambition, Self Made (Collaborated with other MMG artistes), Gifted and The Album About Nothing. In 2011, Wale signed for Rick Ross’ Maybach Music for a reported $1M and none of his albums has sold less than 50,000 copies in its first week of release.

Wale charges around $25,000 per show for bookings and between $700 – $2,500 for organized events and concerts. Although he still holds ‘free shows’ for his Washington DC fans. It is rumoured that Wale signed a closed door deal with giant brand “Nike” not to step out in any footwear brand except a Nike product. The deal was signed in 2013.
