Taxify, now known as Bolt is a transportation network company. The company develops and operates the Bolt mobile application, where you can request a taxi or private driver from your smartphone, of course these cars need to be in perfect condition in the exterior and interiors, but they can use automotive detailing tips for this purpose. Requirements for the driver

Accepted vehicles
Accepted vehicles for Lite (Lagos only)
- The vehicle must be a model between 2002 and 2004
- The vehicle must be a 4-door sedan or SUV
- The vehicle must be in excellent condition
- The vehicle must be able to accommodate at least 4 passengers
Accepted vehicles for Bolt
- The vehicle cannot be older than 14 years
- The vehicle must be a 4-door sedan or SUV
- The vehicle must be in excellent condition
- The vehicle must be able to accommodate at least 4 passengers
Accepted vehicles for Comfort (Abuja only)
- The vehicle must not be more than 10 years
- The vehicle must be a 4-door sedan or SUV
- The vehicle must be in excellent condition
- The vehicle must be able to accommodate at least 4 passengers
- The vehicle must not be more than 15 years
- The vehicle must be an SUV or mini-van
- The vehicle must be in excellent condition

2-door sedans and hatchbacks are not acceptable to the company.
It is required that a driver registers his profile by visiting the driver sign up page. In case one owns three or more vehicles, one can register as a fleet owner. It is also required that a driver attend training, an onboarding session after registration and verification

What is a driver’s shield
The Drivers Shield is a requirement for the Taxify driver. It is a unique insurance initiative by the company to provide an insurance cover to all Bolt users. It is a mandatory document to operate on the platform.
You can purchase your driver’s shield either in person or online.
Steps to purchase your Drivers Shield in person:

- Pay the premium
- Get your Bolt Cover Insurance Certificate
To purchase your Drivers Shield online:
- Visit the AutoGenius website
- Register as a new user or sign in with an existing account
- Click on Plans and then select Drivers Shield to get started
- Enter all the required details
- Select the preferred payment plan and click on Next
- Proceed to the make your payment
- Complete the order
Once your order is finalized, your driver’s shield insurance certificate will be sent to your registered email address. The policy for the drivers’ shield insurance is renewed in full every six months.
In the case where a driver already has a comprehensive personal auto insurance policy, this is not enough to a driver with the company. This is because personal car insurance policies often come with their own exclusions that restrict the driver’s protection.
Inspection
- Every vehicle to be used on the company platform must be inspected to ensure the comfort and safety of all users. This is to make certain service quality. Visit a listed AutoGenius facility, in order to have your bolt inspection. Vehicle inspections with the company are carried out Mondays to Saturdays between 09:00 to 17:00 at the cost of ₦2000 per vehicle. You are to make sure your vehicle is in good condition before visiting the inspection center. Vehicles that fall below standard during any of the checks will not be accepted on the Bolt platform. The inspection report is valid for 6 months.
The inspection will check for the following aspects:
- Drivers Shield Cover and valid driver’s license
- Brakes and Suspension: This includes the condition of shocks, grinding noise, park light engagement, and vehicle alignment
- The functionality of the brake lights, dashboard electrical components, turn indicators and headlights
- Electrical components functionalities: The electric components of the car such as the Air conditioner, floor & foot mat condition, car horn, mirrors & adjustment must be in good condition. The windscreen wipers must be noise-free and the vehicle stereo and odor-free.
- Fluid level check: The Brake fluid, engine coolant, automatic transmission fluid, cabin air filter, windshield washer fluid, and power steering fluid must be adequate or in good condition.
- Safety check: Car components required for safety such as Fire extinguisher, hazard warning triangle, jack & accessories, and spare tyre must be present and in good condition.
- Cosmetic check:
- Interior: Cleanliness of the vehicle and trunk, comfort and other safety features
- Exterior: The body of the car must be free of scratches and dents, there must be no windshield or window cracks, no external mirror cracks, no body panel colors and the trunk must open and close freely
- Tyre check: The tyre pressure and tyre thread pattern must match
Any other defects of the car will also be checked.
