 UTME requirements

For admission to the 4-year programme in English, candidates must have possessed a minimum of five credit passes in WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent obtained at one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes are to include English Language, Literature- in-English with at least a pass in Mathematics.

Direct entry requirements

Candidates who wish to gain admission via direct entry to pursue a three-year degree programme are to possess the following qualifications:

  • Two A’ Level passes in the arts, including Literature-in -English in addition to 5 Credits at SSCE.

Pre-degree Admission Requirements

Candidates applying via the pre-degree programme will undergo a one year preparatory programme with focus on the UTME/Post UTME examinations towards admission into 100 Levels

Candidates applying for the 4-year programme in History and International Studies must possess the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent with a minimum of 5 credit passes obtained in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. These credit passes must include English Language, Government/History, at least a pass in mathematics and three other Arts or Social Science subjects.

 Direct entry requirements

Candidates who wish to apply via direct entry to pursue a three-year degree programme in the department must possess the following qualifications:

  • Two A’ Level passes in History or Government and a subject in Arts/Social Sciences.
  • NCE History/Government & Diploma with credit passes obtained in relevant subjects. This must be in addition to 5 Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent)

Candidates applying to the department for the 4-year programme in Theatre Arts via UTME must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent. These credit passes must be obtained in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes must include English Language, Literature-in-English, at least a pass in Mathematics and any other Arts related subject.

  • NCE & Diploma in Theatre Arts with credit passes in relevant subjects. This must be in addition to 5 Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent)
  • Candidates must also have credit passes in at least two Social Science subjects at O level, HSC or GCE A’ Level

Candidates applying for admission into the Department of Psychology for a 4-year programme must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes at the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalents. These credit passes must be obtained in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes are to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two other Arts, Social sciences or science subjects.

Candidates applying to the department of psychology via direct entry must possess either of the following qualifications.

  • A registered Nurse Certificate or other related courses with a minimum of Lower Credit
  • NCE with minimum of a merit pass in any Social Science subject
  • University Diploma with a minimum of Lower Credit in Social/Community Development, or any other Health Science related courses.

Social work B. Sc (Hons)

Candidates applying for a 4 year programme in Social Work must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent. These 5 credit passes must be obtained in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics and three other Arts, Social sciences or science subjects.

Candidates applying via direct entry must have the following requirements

  • Credit passes in at least two Arts or Social Science subjects in the HSC or GCE A’ Level
  • National Diploma with a minimum of a lower credit in Social work, Community Development or other related subjects.
  • NCE with a Merit pass in Social Studies and other related Arts or Social Science subject.
  • University Diploma in Social work, Community development or related courses which must be with a minimum of lower credit.
  • Possession of the registered nurse certificate with a minimum of lower credit.

Candidates for admission to the 4-year programme in Sociology, candidate must possess the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) with a minimum of 5 credit passes in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography or Government and any other two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences

Candidates applying to the four-year degree programme of Actuarial science must possess the following qualifications:

  • A’ Level passes in Economics and at least one other subject from Statistics, Mathematics or Physics.

  • ND in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics / Electronics or Economics with at least Upper Credit or HND with at least Lower Credit

Direct Entry requirement

Candidates applying to the four-year programme of Banking and Finance via direct entry must possess either of the following qualifications:

  • A’ Level passes in Economics and at least one other subject which could be from Accounting, Business Studies/ Management, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • NCE with at least a Credit in Business Education, Accounting or Economics
  • ND or HND in Business Administration, Business Studies, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics or Statistics with at least a lower credit.
  • Redeemer’s University Diploma in Accounting, Banking & Finance or Business Administration.
  • ICAN-ATS Certificate.

Candidates applying to the 4-year programme in Mass Communication must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent. These credit passes must be obtained in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes must include Mathematics, English Language, Literature-in-English and any other two arts or social science-related subjects.

  • Candidates must have passed at least two Social Science subjects or any other related to it in GCE A’ Level or its equivalent
  • National Diploma in Mass Communication or other related subjects with a minimum of a lower Credit.

Admission Requirements

For admission to the 4-year programme in Political science, candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) or its equivalent. These credit passes must be obtained in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes must include English Language, Government or History, Mathematics, and two other arts or social science-related subjects.

  • National Diploma in Public Administration or other related subjects with a minimum of Lower Credit
  • University diploma in Public Administration, Law or diploma in any other University diploma related course with a minimum of lower credit

For admission to the 4-year programme in Tourism studies, candidates must possess the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) with a minimum of 5 credit passes in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Geography or Economics and any other two subjects in Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences

  • Candidates must have passed at least two Social Science subjects or related subjects at HSC or GCE A’ Level.
  • National diploma in Tourism and Recreation, Business Studies, Hotel and Catering Management with a minimum of lower credit from Government-approved Polytechnics, Colleges of Technology and Institutes running NBTE-approved programmes.
  • University diploma in Tourism and Hospitality related courses with a minimum of a lower credit.

NCE with at least a credit in relevant subjects including Home Economics, Business studies/Administration, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Geography, Marketing and History.

Direct Entry for Transport management B. Sc (Hons)

Admission requirements

Candidates applying via UTME must have passed at least two Social Science or subjects related to it at HSC or GCE A’ Level

  • National Diploma in courses- Town planning, Business studies, Transport management or related subjects with a minimum of lower credit from Government-approved higher institution such as Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology and institutes
  • University Diploma in Transport planning and management and other University diploma in related courses with a minimum of lower credit.
  • NCE with at least a credit in relevant subjects including Geography, Economics, Business Studies/ Administration, Mathematics, Government, Commerce and Statistics.

UTME Admission

Candidates seeking admission into the programme must have:

Credit passes in five (5) ordinary level subjects to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, Biology or other relevant science subjects. The credit passes must be obtained at not more than two sittings.

In addition to ‘O’ level requirements, candidates must have passed at credit level in at least two relevant science subjects at the ‘A’ Level.

  • Holders of OND with Upper Credit or NCE in related disciplines with credit pass may also be considered.
  • Students with JUPEB with a minimum of 6 points on a scale of 15 would be considered for admission.

Computer Science

Admission Requirements

Candidates applying via UTME must possess five (5) credit passes in ‘O’ level/SSCE or its equivalent at not more than two sittings. Credit passes should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and other relevant science subjects.

Candidates applying via direct entry must have obtained upper credit in NCE/ND in Mathematics and any other science subject

  • Credit pass in Professional diploma in Computer Science obtained from any recognised institution. Either of this must be in addition to O’ level requirements, which are credit passes in Mathematics, and either Physics, Chemistry or Biology
  •  Candidates with 6 credit points out of 15 of the JUPEB programme will also be considered for admission

Physical Science

Admission Requirements

Candidates applying for admission to the 4-year programme in Physics with Electronics must possess the WASC/NECO/GCE (O/L) with a minimum of 5 credit passes in one sitting or 6 credit passes in two sittings. The credit passes are to include English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and one other Science subject.
