Osun State University is a Nigerian University, owned by the state and is located in Osogbo. Established in 2007 and officially accredited by the National Universities Commission, Nigeria, the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) enrols about 2000-3000 students. Admission Requirement for UTME Candidates

For admission into the College of Agriculture via UTME, a candidate must possess the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five subjects. The core subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, and Chemistry with credit in any of the following: Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry-level Requirement

Candidates seeking admission through the Direct Entry Mode (200 level) must in addition to the specified qualification for UME Entry Mode (100 level), possess one of the following qualifications:

  • Passes in Chemistry and at least one science, social science or management science subject at General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) or its equivalent. The subjects could either be from Biology, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics (Pure and Applied), Agricultural Science, Physics, Geology, Geography and Economics
  • National Diploma (OND or ND) obtained in relevant fields related to Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Wildlife, Cooperative and Agribusiness Management, or Veterinary Science with a minimum of upper credit.
  • Good grades at National Certificate of Education (NCE) with a minimum of Credit grade (60- 69%) obtained from a College of Education recognised by the University and with other relevant subject combinations.
  • 300- Level Requirements:
    Candidates seeking admission into 300 level must have obtained Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit in relevant fields as listed for OND/ND holders above. The degree must be obtained from NBTE accredited institutions recognised by the University.

UTME Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking for admission into the department of Arts and Social Science Education must have obtained SSCE or its equivalent with credit level in five subjects; English language, Mathematics and Economics forming the core with credits in two other arts or social science subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry Requirements

Candidates seeking for admission into the department of Arts and Social Science Education via direct entry must have advanced level passes in at least two social science subjects. One of which must be Economics for B.Ed. Economics and English for B.Ed. English. This must be in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed for UTME candidates.

Candidates with NCE or its approved equivalents in subjects relevant to the proposed course of study must have at least a lower credit and may be considered for direct entry into the programme

  • Candidates with good grades in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible and may be considered for admission via direct entry, provided they have met the prerequisite qualification as listed above for candidates via UTME

UTME Requirements for College of Health Sciences

Candidates seeking admission into any of the programmes under the College of Health sciences via the Unified Tertiary Matriculation (UTME) mode must possess credit passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE or its equivalents at ordinary level in Mathematics, English language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. These results must be obtained at not more than two sittings

Direct Entry-level requirements

  • Candidates applying to the College of Health sciences via direct entry and who have A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Zoology or any other related discipline are eligible for direct entry-level into year two.
  • Candidates with ND or its approved equivalents in Biological sciences with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry
  • Medical students who have successfully completed the Basic medical sciences programme with a score of 70% in Human anatomy in the 300 level examinations can be admitted into year four for a medical degree.

College of Humanities and Culture

 U.T.M.E. Candidates

For admission into the first-degree programme in College of Humanities and Culture, candidates must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five subjects which are English language, Government or History to form the core subjects. Candidates must also have credits in any three other art or social science subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry Requirements

  • Candidates for admission via direct entry (200 level) into the College of Humanities and Culture must have advanced level passes in Government or History. This is in addition to credit level passes in five subjects at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations or its equivalents
  • Candidates with ND and its approved equivalents in relevant fields and who have at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme
  • Candidates with an acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into year two, provided they possess the prerequisite qualification for entry via UTME into the 100 level programme.

Requirement for Admission via UTME

Candidates seeking for admission via UTME mode into the College of Law of the University must possess credit level passes at Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents in five subjects to include, English language and Literature in English. These results must be obtained at not more than one sitting.

Direct Entry level requirement

Candidates for direct entry into the degree programme of the College of law, Osun state university must have either of the following:

  • A two year or three year diploma certificate with an upper credit from the university or any other recognized university or institution. In addition to this, the candidate must have credit level passes in at least five papers, to include English language and Literature in English in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or GCE O’ level examination or its equivalents
  • Three papers at principal level in Higher School Certificate Examination (H.S.C.E.) or General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Advanced level, together with credit passes in not less than three other subjects to include English language and Literature in English in the SSCE or GCE O’ level examination or its equivalents
  • Two papers at principal level in H.S.C. or G.C.E. Advanced level plus credit passes in four other papers including English language and Literature in English in the S.S.C.E. or G.C.E. O’ level examination or its equivalent
  • A degree in any discipline or course which is relevant to law from Osun state university or any other recognized university with grades not less than a second class lower division.

Admission Requirements via UTME

Candidates for admission into the College of Management Sciences and Humanities must have credit level passes in five subjects at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalents. These five subjects must be in Mathematics and English forming the core subjects and others to include: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Bookkeeping at not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry-level Requirements

Candidates seeking admission by direct entry (into 200 level) must have either of the following qualifications:

  • An advanced level passes in at least two of the following: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Bookkeeping. This is in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above as requirements for candidates via UTME.
  • Candidates with ND or its approved equivalents in other relevant fields with at least a lower credit may be considered for admission via direct entry into 200 level
  • Candidates who have obtained qualifications such as ICAN ATS (final level) and the foundation pass of other recognized bodies: ICAN, ACCA (London), CIMA (UK), CIBN, CITN and any others who are members of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) may be considered for direct entry.
  • Candidates with good grades in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into 200 level, provided they possess the prerequisite qualification for entry via UTME into 100 level.

Requirements via UTME

Candidates seeking admission for a degree programme in Urban and regional planning must have the senior certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five subjects to include English language, Mathematics, Physics and Geography to form the core subjects, and credits in other relevant subjects. This result must be obtained at not more than two sittings.

Requirements for direct entry

Candidates for admission via direct entry (200 level), Urban and Regional programme must have advanced level passes in at least Mathematics and Physics in addition to credit level passes in SSCE or its equivalent in the five subjects listed above as prerequisite for candidates via UTME.
