Federal Polytechnic, Nekede is one of the Federal government-owned tertiary institutions in the country.
The Polytechnic is located in Nekede, a town in Imo State, South-Eastern Nigeria. Initially, it was set up on a temporary site at the premise of Government Technical College by the Imo State government in 1978 as College of Technology, Owerri before it was moved to its present location in Nekede.

The Polytechnic has 5 faculties of study namely the School of Engineering Technology (SET), School of Industrial and Applied Science (SIAS), School of Business Management Technology (SBMT), School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) and School of Environmental Development Technology (SEDT).

1. Architectural Technology
Minimum Requirement: Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and any other three from English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics, Religious Knowledge, Technical Drawing and Fine Art. A pass in the English Language is required.
2. Civil Engineering Technology
Minimum Requirement: Five credit in Mathematics, Physics and any three from Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Technical drawing, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Further Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Basic Electrical/Electronics, Auto mechanics, English language. A pass in English language and Chemistry is required.
3. Agric Engineering
Minimum Requirement: Five credit from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any two from Biology/Agricultural Science, Engineering, Drawing/Technology Drawing, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Basic Electronics, Metalwork, Wood Work, English Language. A pass in the English language is required.
4. Computer Science
Minimum Requirement: Five credit in Mathematics, Physics, English language and two from statistics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics/Commerce, Biology/Agricultural Science, Government/History, Technical drawing, Information Communication Technology (ICT).
5. Electrical Electronics Engineering
Minimum Requirement: Five credit in Mathematics, Physics and any three from Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Technical drawing, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Further Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Basic Electrical/Electronics, Auto mechanics, English language. A pass in English language and Chemistry is required.
6. Estate Management
Minimum Requirement: English Language, Mathematics, one basic Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and two others taken from Economics, Geography, Accounting/Principle of Accounts, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, History/Government, literature in English, Woodwork and Metal Work.
7. Food Technology
Minimum Requirement: Five credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any two of Physics, Economics, Statistics, English language, Additional Mathematics, Food and Nutrition/Hotel and Catering, Geography, Basic Electrical, Food services. Bakery and Confectionaries. Passes in Physics and English language are required.
8. Library and Information Science
Minimum Requirement: Five credits in English Language and the other four subjects with passes in Mathematics and one science subjects.
9. Mechanical Engineering Technology
Minimum Requirement: Five credit in Mathematics, Physics and any three from Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Technical drawing, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Further Mathematics, Food and Nutrition, Basic Electrical/Electronics, Auto mechanics, English language. A pass in English language and Chemistry is required.
10. Quantity Surveying
Minimum Requirement: Five credits in Mathematics, Physics and three of Chemistry, Geography, Technical drawing/Fine art, English language, Metalwork, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Economics/commerce. A pass in the English Language is required.
11. Building Technology
Minimum Requirement: Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and three of Geography Economics, Technical Drawing/Art, Woodwork metal work, Biology/Agric Science, English Language. A pass in the English language is required.
