Established in December 1992, the Kogi State Polytechnic is one of the prominent polytechnics in the country. The Polytechnic is also one of the most sought after Polytechnics in the country particularly in the Middle Belt.
The Kogi State Polytechnic is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to give certificates in Art and Printing, Business, Engineering, Finance and Science Computing at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.

School of Management Studies
This school offers full-time HND in:
- Accountancy
- Business Administration
- Public Administration
- Office Technology and Management
- Library and Information Science
Here are the requirements for the HND programme at the School of Management Studies
- Candidates must possess a National Diploma in Financial Studies and related programmes with at least a lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50
- 5 Credits at O/L (NECO, WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEC) at not more than two sittings which must include English Language and Mathematics
- 1 year compulsory industrial training or a pass in ND result with 2 Years compulsory industrial training attachment.
- Transcript is required for admission into all HND programmes, especially for candidates from other institution.
School of Applied Sciences
This school awards full-time HND in:
- Statistics
- Science Laboratory Technology
- Computer Science
Entry requirements
- Candidates must possess National Diploma in Statistics and at least a minimum of lower credit(CGPA) of 2.50
- 5 credits at O/L (NECO/WASC/GCE/NABTEC) at not more than two sittings which must include English Language Mathematics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric Science
- Candidates must have at least 1 year compulsory industrial training or a pass in ND result with 2 years industrial training attachment.
- Transcript is required for admission into all HND programmes, especially for candidates from other institution.
School of Art Design & Printing
Courses (Full-time)
- Industrial Design with Options in Graphics, Textiles and Ceramics
- Fine Arts with Options in Painting and Sculpture
Entry Requirements
- At least a Lower Credit (CGPA) of 2.50 at the ND level
- 5 Credits at O/L (NECO, WASC/SSCE/NABTEC) at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts or Visual Arts, Chemistry, Geography, History, Biology, Literature in English, Clothing and Textiles, Religious Knowledge and any other Sciences.
- Also, candidates must have at least 1 year compulsory industrial training or a pass in ND result with two (2) years compulsory industrial training attachment.
School of Engineering Technology
Courses (Full-time)
- Mineral Resources Engineering with options in Mining Engineering Technology, Geological Engineering Technology or Mineral processing Engineering Technology.
- Metallurgical Engineering
Entry requirements
- Candidates must possess National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering with at least lower credit
- 5 Credits at O/L (NECO /WASC/ SSCE/GCE/ NABTEC not more than two sittings which must include Mathematics Chemistry, and any three subjects from Metal-work Technical-Drawing, Basic Electronics, Geography, Statistics, Additional Mathematics and a credit pass in English Language
- 1 year compulsory Industrial Training or a pass in ND result with two years Industrial Training attachment
School of Environmental Technology
- Urban and Regional Planning (Full-time)
Entry Requirements
- Candidate must possess National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning and must have at least a lower credit pass (CGPA 2.50)
- 5 credits pass in NECO/WASC/NABTEC/ANTC with credit pass in relevant subject to the programme, i.e., Mathematics, English Language, Geography and two subjects from the followings; Economics, Technical Drawing, Statistics and one Science subject from Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agric Science, Fine Art OR
- 5 credits pass in relevant subjects obtained at the final examination of an NBTE recognized Preliminary ND programme offered in a Polytechnic or similar post-secondary Technical Institution.
- A minimum of One year compulsory industrial training or a pass in ND result with two years compulsory industrial training attachment.
Kogi State Polytechnic also offers part-time HND Programmes
Applying for the part time programme is slightly different from the full time degree. Usually, the programme takes 5 semesters.
Here are the entry requirements for prospective part-time candidates:
- Must possess National Diploma in a related course and must have at least a lower credit (CGPA) of 2.50
- Must have 5 credits at O/L (NECO/WASC/SSCE/GCE/NABTEC) which must include English Language and Mathematics
- Must have at least 1 year compulsory industrial training or a pass in ND result with 2 years Industrial attachment.
Here’s a list of the part-time HND programmes and their requirements:
Higher National Diploma in Accountancy
The requirement is the same as those for the HND in Financial studies and related Programmes.
Higher National Diploma in Public Administration
The requirement is the same as those for the HND in Public Administration
Higher National Diploma in Office Technology Management
The requirement is the same as those for the HND in National Diploma in Office Technology Management
Higher National Diploma in Mathematics/Statistics
The requirement is the same as those for the HND in Mathematics/Statistics.
Higher National Diploma in Computer Science
The requirement is the same as those for the HND in Computer Science.
Higher National Diploma in Library and Information Science
The requirement is the same as those for the HND in Library and Information Science.
In exceptional cases, ND holders with a pass (CGPA of 2.00-2.49) and 2 plus years of cognate experience in the specific field may be considered for admission into HND programmes.

- Obtain the application forms. If you intend enrolling in the full time programme, the form cost N5500. You can pay online using your debit card. On the other hand, the application form for the part-time programmes cost N6000 and can also be done online. .
