The history of Kaduna Polytechnic can be traced to the establishment of Kaduna Technical Institute in 1956. The establishment of theTechnical Institute, Kaduna was due to the British Government accepting the recommendation of the Higher Education Commission, which suggested the upgrading of Yaba Higher College to Technical Institute and the establishment of technical institutes in Kaduna and Enugu.

One of the institutes eventually became the Kaduna Polytechnic in 1968 which was based on the Federal Government Decree No. 20 of 1968 (the decree was later revised in 1979)

Kaduna Polytechnic is one of the major tertiary institutions in the Northern part of the country. Currently, the polytechnic has a student enrolment of over 25,000 students in over 138 programmes and 44 Academic Departments.

Now that you know the available courses, it is also important that you know the guidelines and requirements for admission

  • If you have a Polytechnic Diploma, University Diploma, IJMB, First Degree or National Diploma, you may be considered for Direct Admission into appropriate ND programmes.
  • For Pre NCE (Technical), candidates must possess SSC/NTC with at least 3 credits and 2 passes in not more than 2 sittings. The credits must include English Language and Physics and any other Science subject or TCII with credits/merits in the said subjects.
  • For Pre NCE (Special Needs), candidates must possess SSC/NTC/NBC with at least 3 credits and 2 passes in not more than 2 sittings. The credits must include English Language and any two from History, Government, Biology, Chemistry or Agricultural Science or TCII with credits/merits in the said subjects.
  • At the end of the two semesters, students are to proceed to the respective NCE programmes provided they obtained a CGPA of 1.50 and scored the minimum cut off point at the JAMB UTME, however, these candidates are exempted from Post UTME.

  • To check your admission status, login to your JAMB profile with your email and password, then click on CAPS at the left hand corner of your dashboard
  • Click on Admission status to view your admission status..
  • If you’ve been offered admission, you should click the accept button then proceed to pay your acceptance fees.
