Application/ Admission Requirement for Bayero University, Kano
Undergraduate Application
Applicants for undergraduate studies must have a Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent.
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
Candidates who wish to apply via UTME must have sat for the UTME Examinations, must have met the cut-off mark and scored an aggregate in subjects relevant to the programme they are applying for before they are deemed eligible for admission into the school. This pass mark is determined by the University in subjects relevant to the programme applied for.
Prospective candidates must also have obtained a minimum of five (5) passes at Credit level in the National Examinations Council (NECO) or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or its other equivalent. These subjects are to include a pass at credit level in both English and Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen field of study. This result must be obtained in not more than two (2) sittings. After this, they would be required to register and write a test (Post -UTME) which is conducted by the University.
Direct Entry
This depends on additional qualifications possessed by an applicant. Applicants via direct entry must possess either of the following:
- OND (with merit),
- NCE
- IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points)
- GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits)
- HND (Pass)
In addition to the above, applicants must also possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to the regular full-time undergraduate applicants.
Therefore, credit in English is compulsory for all courses applied. Mathematics is also a prerequisite for science-based and social sciences based courses.
