Agricultural Courses in Nigeria & Requirements

 Admission requirements for UTME candidates

  • Candidates applying via UTME must possess five O’ level credit passes in the following subjects: English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics

Admission requirements for direct entry-level candidates

  • Two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any other from the following: Biology, Botany, Zoology, or Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography/Geology, Economics, Pure and Applied Mathematics
  • OND, NCE, HND degree with a minimum of lower credit (merit) in Agricultural Science/Animal Health and other related fields.

All the above is in addition to the UTME entry requirement.

Admission requirements for UTME candidates

  • Two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any other from the following: Biology, Botany, Zoology, or Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography/Geology, Economics, Pure and Applied Mathematics

  • Candidates must have obtained passes at the Principal levels in the (HSCE) Higher School Certificate Examination in the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology (Botany and/or Zoology), Agricultural Science, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Candidates must have A’ level passes just as in the subjects mentioned above
  • OND, NCE, HND in Nutrition in any of the following: Dietetics, Home Economics, Agricultural Science, Food Science
  • Certificate in Nursing or approved Diploma/NCE in subjects related to the proposed course of study

Admission requirements via UTME

Candidates via UTME must have five credit passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE or their equivalent in the following subjects: Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English language

Direct Entry requirement

Candidates applying via direct entry must have any of the following requirements:

  • Two ‘A’ level passes in any of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agric Science, Geography, Mathematics, (Pure & Applied) Physics, Geology and Economics.
  • NCE in Agriculture or other related courses

 UTME and Direct Entry Requirements

Direct Entry Requirement

  • Candidates must have two (2) A’ Level passes in Chemistry and one of Zoology/Botany/Agric Science/Biology, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Geology, Economics and Health Science.

UTME Requirement for Soil Science

  • Candidates must have a minimum of five credit passes in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any other Science subject.

UTME Subject combination for Soil Science is:

  • Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science in addition to Mathematics or Physics.

 

  • Plant Breeding and Seed Science

Admission requirements for UTME candidates

Candidates via UTME are required to have five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science in addition to any other science subject.
