Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) is a private university which is located in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The university was founded by a lawyer and philanthropist, Afe Babalola, in 2009 and has grown to be acknowledged as one of the best in the country. As of 2013, ABUAD was reported as the second best private university in Nigeria.

Afe Babalola University runs 47 programs fully accredited by NUC and professional bodies across the following fields: Engineering, Law, Medicine and Health Sciences, Accounting, Computer science, Media & communication, International relations and Social justice.

Admission Requirement for Undergraduate Programmes at Afe Babalola University

  • Candidates must have sat for the current year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME)
  • At the Post-UTME for ABUAD, candidates must have met the cut off mark of 180.  Only those candidates who have 180 or above will be allowed to undertake the screening examination
  • Candidates must possess five credit passes at O’ level examinations (WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and IGCSE or their equivalent. This result must be obtained at one sitting. Admission into the college of Law requires that candidate has credit passes in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, and two other Social sciences or Arts subjects
  • Admission for MBBS (Medicine) and Nursing science programmes requires that the candidate has five credit passes at WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and IGCSE or their equivalent in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The result must be obtained at one sitting
  • For other programmes offered by the school, a candidate must possess five credit passes at WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and IGCSE or their equivalent in English language, Mathematics and three other subjects relevant to the proposed course of study. The result must be obtained at not more than two sittings
  • Results of past (UTME) Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examinations are not accepted. Only the result for the current admission year can be submitted.
  • All applicants who selected ABUAD in their UTME form must buy the admission application form at a sum of N2000 and a screening fee for N5000
  • Candidates via direct entry and who intend transferring from another university to the school will pay for a different application fee that goes for the sum of N10,500
  • Candidates who did not choose Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are also eligible to participate in the Post UTME screening of the University. He/she must purchase a Change of Institution form from JAMB and another from ABUAD at a cost of N3,500
  •  Candidates awaiting their O level examination result are also eligible to apply for admission as long as the result will be available before the resumption date of the academic year
  • Applicants via direct entry to ABUAD cannot apply for some courses, such as Law, Nursing, Surgery, and Medicine.

Programmes at Afe Babalola University

Pre-degree Programme

Pre-degree Programme runs for 9 months. On completion of the program, applicants gain admission into 100 Level. Candidates are to visit Afe Babalola International Study Centre at Ibadan, Oyo State to collect the application form.

Degree Foundation Programme

The degree foundation programme runs for 18 months. This is also known as direct entry. Upon completion, students gain admission into 200 Level.
Candidates are to visit Afe Babalola International Study Centre at Ibadan, Oyo State to collect the application form.
