Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta is one of the best state-owned polytechnics in Nigeria. Established in January 1979, the now offers about 40 different courses spread across 26 departments and 5 faculties (schools).

The polytechnic’s faculties include the School of Science and Technology, School of Environmental Studies, School of Business Administration and Management Studies, School of Engineering, and School of Communication and Information Technology.

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic: O’level and UTME Requirements for Courses

Here are SSCE/NECO and UTME requirements for each of the courses offered at OND level at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.

Accountancy

  • O’level: 5 credit passes in not more than 2 sittings — to include Maths, English, and either of Economics or Commerce.
  • UTME: Maths and any other two of these subjects: Geography, Accounts, Economics, and Commerce.

Agricultural Technology

  • O’Level: Credit Passes in Maths, English, Biology, Agric Science, and any of the following: Geography, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Technical Drawing, Home Economics, or a Nigerian Language.
  • UTME: Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry, and any other science subject.

Architectural Technology

  • O’Level: 5 credits at 2 sittings or 4 credits at one sitting — to include Maths, English, Physics, and any two of these: Biology, Fine Art, Chemistry, History, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, Religious Knowledge, Technical Drawing, Business Method. ‘O’ level pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.
  • UTME: Maths and any two of these: Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing

Arts and Design

  • O’Level: 5 credits (in not more than 2 sittings) in English, Maths, Fine Arts, and any two of these: History/Government, Chemistry/Physics, Biology/Agric Science, Literature in English, Clothing and Textiles. The school accepts 4 credits passes in one sitting, with a pass in English language.
  • UTME: Fine Art and any other two of these: Chemistry, Maths, Biology, History, and a Nigerian Language.

Banking and Finance

  • O’Level: 5 credits in English Language (not Literature in English), Mathematics and any three of these subjects: Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting, Shorthand)
  • UTME: Maths and any two of these: Economics, Geography, History, Government, Commerce or Principles of Accounts.)

Business Administration and Management

Hospitality Management

  • O’Level: 5 credits (in 2 sittings at most) in Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science, and any 3 of these: Food and Nutrition, Geography, Economics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Home Economics, Nigerian Language. The school accepts 4 credits in one sitting that must include credits on English and Biology/Agric Science, and a pass in Mathematics.
  • UTME: Biology/Agricultural Science and two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics

Mass Communication

  • O’Level: 5 credits in English, Maths, and any three of these: History, Literature in English, Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts, Government, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electricity, Geography, Typewriting, Accounts. The school accepts a pass in Literature in English.

Mechanical Engineering

Quantity Surveying

  • O’Level: Four (4) ‘O’ level credit passes at one (1) sitting or five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry with ‘O’ level pass in English Language and two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing/ Engineering Drawing and Further Mathematics.

Science Laboratory Technology

  • O’Level: Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include Mathematics, and any two (2) of the core science subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science with a pass in the third (3rd) and English Language.
  • UTME: Any three of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science or Physics

Office Technology and Management

  • O’Level: Four (4) ‘O’ level credit passes at one sitting or five (5) credits at two (2) sittings — In English, Maths, and any 3 of the following: Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government, Typewriting, Shorthand
  • UTME: Any three of these: Maths, Economics, Commerce, History/Govt, Geography, CRS/IRS, Principles of Accounts

Statistics

  • O’Level: Five (5) SSC credit passes in Mathematics, Basic Science and any two of the following: English, Economics, Geography, Government/History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, English Language, Typewriting. The school accepts a pass in English and 4 credits in one sitting or 5 credits in 2 sittings.
  • UTME: Any three of: Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, History/Government, CRS/IRS

Leisure and Tourism Management

  • O’Level: Four (4) ‘O’ level credits at one (1) sitting or five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings to include English Language and Geography with Mathematics with at least a pass in Mathematics.
  • UTME: Maths, Chemistry, Physics

Urban and Regional Planning

  • O’Level: Four (4) ‘O’ level credit passes at one (1) sitting or five (5) credits at not more than two (2) sittings to include Mathematics, English language and one science subject. Other subject from Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts/Technical Drawing, Government/History, Religious Knowledge, Further Mathematics and Nigerian Language.
  • UTME: Geography and two (2) other subjects from O’level course requirement.

Surveying and Geo-informatics

  • O’Level: Five (5) SSC credit passes in Mathematics and Physics and any other three (3) subjects from the following: Further Mathematics, Chemistry;
  • Technical Drawing/Fine Art, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Biology/Agricultural Science, English Language, Basic Electricity. At least ‘O’ level credit pass in English Language is compulsory.
  • UTME: Any 3 of these: Chemistry/Agric Science, Biology, Economics, Maths.

Pharmaceutical Technology

  • O’Level: Four (4) ‘O’ level credit passes at one (1) sitting or five (5) credits at not more than two (2) sittings to include Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics with pass in English Language and Physics. Agricultural Science is not acceptable as alternative to Biology.
  • UTME: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics/Biology
