Nurses are very important in every country as they offer supportive roles to doctors in the quest to save lives and attend to sick people. In most cases, nursing are in charge of making sure patients take their medications and taking other necessary indices such as blood pressure and temperature normally.
There are two options available for those who intend to become Nurses in Nigeria. The first option is to undertake a five year course in Nursing in any University offering the course in Nigeria. Due to the difficulty of getting admission to higher institutions in Nigeria, the easier option is therefore to attend a School of Nursing.
Getting admission into a nursing school requires you to have finished your secondary school education and that you were able to pass at least 5 subjects at credit level in your WAEC or NECO at not more than 2 sittings. The subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Health Science.
School of Nursing are post-secondary school institutions in Nigeria where individuals who have the desire to become a nurse could go for training. On graduating from the school, you would become a qualified nurse and would be able to work in any institution of your choice. It takes about 3 years to finish the School of Nursing and become a certified Nurse in Nigeria.

There is no need enrolling for the nursing program since you did not have the basic requirement. It will be in your best interest if you re-enrol for your O’Levels and get qualified for the basic requirement before you obtain the admission form for any school of nursing. The reason is because the program is very intensive and any need for revisiting what suppose to have been in the past will surely cause un-necessary distraction for you. Please be wise

Dear Francisca, you cannot enroll for Nursing. you need to fulfill the basic requirements of 5 credits including Mathematics, English language, Biology, Physics and chemistry at not more than two sittings. Examination combinations acceptable are WAEC and NECO. NABTEB Certificate is not acceptable because it is adjudged to be a business and technical examination body
