The Lagos State Ministry of Education is poised to become the model of excellence in the provision of education in Africa. It aims to achieve this goal by providing high quality education that is made accessible to all learners through efficient management of resources for the attainment of self-reliance and socio-economic development.

The Lagos State Ministry of Education performs the following duties:

  • Approving and regulating private education institutions in the state
  • Inspecting private and public schools for quality control and maintenance of educational standards
  • Supervising and monitoring all tertiary institutions belonging to the state
  • Controlling and managing public nursery, basic, secondary, and technical education in the state.

Divisions

The Lagos State Ministry of Education is divided into 16 departments, 36 units, 3 extra miniterial departments, and 4 agencies.

Recruitment and Vacancies

The Lagos State Ministry of Education recruits new teachers and ministerial staff every year. The vacancies are publicised in major Nigerian newspapers and job boards.Interested applicants are usually instructed to address their applications to the Tutor- General/ Permanent Secretary of the Education District where they intend to serve. Each application must be accompanied with candidate’s CV and copies of all certificates bagged.
