The Nigerian Defence Academy is the institution set up for the purpose of training individuals who are to become military men. The institution is undoubtedly of top quality. It is a degree awarding institution just like any other university in Nigeria.

They offer admission to qualified candidates from all parts of Nigeria. The institution is accredited by the National University Commission. Its graduates are of equal qualification like any other graduate from other universities in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) was established on 5 February 1964 in response to the defence needs of independent Nigeria to train officers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Before then, the institution was known as the Royal Military Forces Training College (RMFTC). After independence in 1960, it became known as the Nigerian Military Training College.

The role of the Academy is to provide each officer cadet with knowledge, skills and values necessary to meet the requirements of a military officer through military, academic and character development.

In essence, the NDA is an institution where selected young able-bodied men and women are groomed into well educated, courageous, virile and erudite subalterns.

Just like all other universities in Nigeria, the Nigerian Defence Academy also insists on some requirements before a student can be given admission in the institution. It is not enough to aspire to be a military man; you should also have the right kind of qualification in order to be qualified for admission.

The numbers of faculties and departments available in the Nigeria Defence Academy are however not as many as what obtains in other Nigerian universities. This is understandable, since the main focus is to train them on defence and war.

Be that as it may, they do not give admission to all comers; aspiring students must meet up with certain requirements similar to what is demanded by other Nigerian universities. In this writeup, you will learn about the various faculties, departments and courses offered in the Nigerian Defence Academy.
