PTDF Scholarship

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a body instituted by law, under the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The body was established for the purpose of developing and promoting petroleum technology and for creating the human resource needs of the oil and gas industry through research and training of Nigerians.

The scholarship isn’t restricted to prospective students living in Nigeria. If you’re living abroad, you can apply as well.

The award is also granted for studies in foreign countries like the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Germany, Brazil and France (through Campus France)

 

The application forms can be accessed online here using an ATM (Interswitch, Master & Visa) card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in all the 36 States and FCT, upon payment of a non-refundable sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.

 

If you’re an MSc applicant, there are certain requirements prior to being shortlisted and invited for a Computer Based Aptitude Test.

On the other hand, an oral interview will be conducted for PhD applicants (full time and Split-site). After the aptitude tests and interview, successful candidates will be selected and awarded the PTDF Scholarship.

Below are the general criteria for the PTDF Scholarship Scheme

If you’re an MSc applicant, below are the things you need to provide:.

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
  • National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
  • You must be computer literate;
  • O/level Certificate with Credit in English Language (at least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and
  • You must not be above 30 years of age.

 

If you’re a PhD candidate, below are the criteria:

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with Oil and Gas industry experience;
  • National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
  • You must be computer literate;
  • O/level result with Credit in English Language (at least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and
  • Employment in the academics in reputable Nigerian Institution, teaching Oil and Gas related disciplines;
  • A minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a minimum of merit as a second degree certificate in an Oil and Gas related discipline;
  • A research proposal relevant to the Oil and Gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, Introduction, Objective, Methodology Relevance to the industry and Mode of data collection;
  • A valid admission letter; and
  • Applicant must not be over 40 years of age

NNPC/NAE/OANDO Post Graduate Scholarship Award Scheme

Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited (NAE), on behalf of the NNPC/NAE/OANDO PSC, is committed to the training and development of manpower as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

 

The application is open to suitably qualified and interested Nigerian graduates for the 2014/2015 Post Graduate Scholarship Award Scheme. The award is in two categories – Nigerian and Overseas.

 

Below are the eligibility criteria:

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper Bachelors degree from a recognized Nigerian University
  • Valid admission letter into a Nigerian or Overseas University (based on the category being applied for) for a one year Master’s Degree programme in any of the disciplines listed below
  • Not above 28 years of age
  • Certificate of completion of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme

 

The scholarship is restricted to certain disciplines which include:

  • Geosciences
  • Engineering (Petroleum, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Sub Sea, Electrical, Marine, Chemical)
  • Petroleum Economics
  • Oil and Gas
  • Law

 

Prior to commmencing your application, you should ensure you have clear scanned copies of the following documents:

  • Passport photograph (with white background not more than 3 months old)
  • Valid ID card
  • Proof of provisional admission into any reputable university
  • First Degree Certificate
  • Birth Certificate

 

Also, you should ensure these scanned documents are labelled accordingly, to avoid mixing up documents during upload and the appropriate documents are attached when you upload.

 

Bilateral Education Agreement, BEA Awards

The scholarship is available at Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and PhD) in all fields.

 

You can study in any of these countries: Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, Cuba, Romania, Ukraine, Japan, Macedonia; and Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, etc)

 

Below are the eligibility criteria:

  • Must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate, WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old (2014 & 2015). Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.

 

If you’re eligible, you’re to report for interview at the scheduled venues for their respective zones of origin for proper identification. Usually, you’re expected to submit two sets of the printed and completed application forms at the interview centre along with the following attachments:

 

  • Application Form
  • Data page of current International passport, and
  • Four (4) passport sized coloured photographs on white background;
  • One certificate is accepted i.e WAEC of May/June only; • Statement of results must be confirmed by WAEC and forwarded to the Director/Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja;
  • Photocopies of Authenticated academic certificates;
  • Specified Medical Reports & Police clearance certificate.
  • State of Origin/LGA certificate duly signed, stamped and dated;
  • Two copies of Birth certificate
  • Two sets of Photocopies of Educational Certificates and Testimonials of previous schools attended with the originals for sighting
