Visa Requirements for Nigerian Citizens

Visa Requirements for Nigerian Citizens

Visa requirements for Nigerian citizens differ from one country to another. The requirements can be strict in one country and not so strict in another country.

While some countries insist that Nigerians should have visa to visit their countries, there are some other countries that do not make such demand on Nigerian citizens. This means anyone from Nigeria can enter those latter countries without worrying about visa.

The Nigerian national passport is ranked as the 92nd best visa in the world; this is according to a rating given by Visa Restriction Index in February 2016.  It was also revealed that 45 countries and territories across the globe do not require that Nigerians get visa before they can access their countries.

Some of them give Nigerians freedom in their countries, while some other ones require that Nigerians get visa once they step into those foreign countries.

Though some countries do not demand for visa for Nigerians to access their countries, the law enforcement agencies of those countries still have the final say on whether or not the Nigerian is permitted into their country or how long the Nigerian can stay in their countries.

The free-visa situation is even given some restrictions. For example, some countries insist that only Nigerians coming in as tourists have free access into their countries without visa, while any other Nigerian visiting for other purposes aside this will have to provide work permit or visa, depending on the purpose of visit.

Below, the countries giving Nigerians free access into their countries without visa or visa-on arrival will be highlighted.
