Mobolaji Johnson Station is where you’d have to go to book a train to Ibadan from Lagos state. The station serves as the primary train station in Lagos. This is where the train departs from and returns to daily. 

If you don’t know where the Mobolaji Johnson train station is situated in Lagos, you do not need to worry as we will tell you how to locate the station in a minute. The station is located in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos. 

To locate Mobolaji Johnson train station, take the road from Ojuelegba through Tejuosho to reach Yaba. At the end of Tejuosho road, take a right turn and keep on going until you reach the Alagomeji bus stop. Alight at the Alagomeji bus stop and you’d find the Mobolaji Johnson Station next to the bus stop. The train station is an old building that’s hard to miss.

You would want to arrive at the station at least thirty minutes before the set departure time. At the counter, tender your valid ID to pay for your train ticket. The two times the train departs from Lagos to Ibadan are 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, both on weekdays and weekends.  

If you purchased a First Class train ticket to Ibadan, you’d ride in the 24-seater coaches while the 56 and 68-seater coaches are for Business Class passengers. A Standard train ticket will see you riding in one of the 88-seater coaches. 

The time it takes to take a train from Lagos to Ibadan is approximately two hours and fifty minutes. When the train leaves the Mobolaji Johnson Station at 8:00 am (or 4:00 pm as the case may be), there would be a brief stopover some thirty minutes at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Station. The train would take off again a few minutes after, stopping briefly at Wole Soyinka Station in Abeokuta and Samuel Laduke Akintola Station in Omi-Adio, before the final stop at the Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, Ibadan. 

You’d find the train ride from Mobolaji Johnson Station to the Obafemi Awolowo Station to be quite comfortable. The coaches are air-conditioned so you may need some thick clothing if you cannot withstand cold for long periods. It is also important to let you know that there are no food services available to passengers in coach. 

When the train finally arrives at the Obafemi Awolowo Station in Moniya, Ibadan, you can reach Ojoo main park in ten minutes, while it takes twenty minutes to reach Iwo road park (when there’s no traffic). From these parks, you can virtually find a cab to wherever you are going in Ibadan. Alternatively, you may use e-hailing services like Bolt and Uber to take you to your final destination.
