If the plate number is registered properly with the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the correct information about the vehicle would be shown to you. If the plate number is fake, you would see “null”.

Another way to easily verify If your Nigerian plate number is genuine is through SMS. If you do not have access to the internet and do not want to go through the stress of going to the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) portal, you can still verify your plate number by using your phone SMS service.

For example, type  “VerifyPlateNo LAG572F2” and send it to 33324. Note that you have to type the plate number correctly to get the desired result. After sending the message, your message would be delivered and you then receive a corresponding message telling you if your plate number is genuine and registered correctly.

The first thing to do is to install the app on your mobile device. If you are an android user, download the app by visiting the Google Play Store. As for iPhone users, visit the app store. 

Once you have downloaded and installed the app, input your number plate in the place you would see “enter plate no”. The next step would be to click on verify and wait for a message that would show you if your plate number is genuine and properly registered or not. 

  • Visit The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Office

Another way you can verify a Nigerian plate number is to visit the physical office of the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) nearest to you. Since all the data and information concerning every plate number and its owner is reserved by the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), you can visit their office to get any information you need concerning any plate number provided you have a genuine reason for doing so.
