Abadam

Abadam is situated on the western coast of Lake Chad. Its headquarters are in the town of Malumfatori. Abadam has a population of 100,180 according to the 2006 census.

Askira/Uba

Askira, also called Uba has its headquarters are in the town of Askira. Askira has a population of 138,091 according to the 2006 census.

Bama

Bama has its headquarters in the town of Bama. The LGA has a population of 269,986 as at the 2006 census. It is located about 37 miles away from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state. Bama is one of the local governments that constitute the Dikwa Emirate. Dikwa Emirate is one of the traditional states located in Borno State, Nigeria. The Dikwa Emirate was established in 1901 as one of the successors to the old Bornu Empire. The emirate was founded after the Bornu empire had been partitioned by the colonialists.

Fikayel Bayo

Fikayel Bayo has its headquarters in the town Fikayel. The LGA has a population of 78,978 as at the 2006 census. It is one of the LGAs that make up the Biu Emirate. Biu Emirate is a traditional state-based in Biu in Borno State. Before 1920, it used to be referred to as the Biu Kingdom.

Biu is both a town and a Local Government Area (LGA) situated in the southern part Borno State. The headquarters of Biu LGA is Biu town, which used to be the capital of the Biu kingdom. Biu is a word in Bura Language for ‘high’. The region is dry with just little rain.

Chibok

Chibok is located in the south of the state. Its headquarters are in the town of Chibok. It has a population of 66,105 as at the 2006 census. The inhabitants are kibaku by tribe and speak the Kibaku language. It is also one of the LGAs that constitute the Borno Emirate.

Damboa

Its headquarters are in the town of Damboa. It has a population of 233,200 according to the 2006 census

Dikwa

Dikwa has its headquarters in the town of Dikwa. Dikwa town is also the seat and administrative headquarters of the Dikwa Emirate. Dikwa used to be part of the kingdom of Borno before being captured by Rabih in 1893. The LGA has an estimated population of 105,909 inhabitants, according to the 2006 census.

Gubio

Gobiyo also written as Gobiyo has its headquarters in the town of Gubio. It has a population of 152,778 as at the 2006 census. It is also one of the local governments that constitute the Borno Emirate.

Guzamala

Guzamala has its headquarters in the town of Gudumbali, located about 125 kilometres north of the state capital, Maiduguri. It is a part of the Borno Emirate, a traditional city in Borno state.

Guzamala Local Government Area is located very close to the northern axis of Borno state. It has a population of 95,648 at the 2006 census.

Gwoza

Gwoza has its headquarters in the town of Gwoza. The terrain of the region is rocky and hilly. The Gwoza Hills which has heights of about 1300m above sea level. The Gwoza hills provide a scenery of the Mandara mountains which form a natural barrier between Nigeria and Cameroon.

Kaga
