TETFUND gets the income to support these federal and state tertiary institutions from the 2% Education Tax paid from the profits of companies in Nigeria.   • TETFUND Headquarters

The TETFUND head office has the responsibility for coordinating the activities of the zonal offices of the agency in achieving its goal of developing infrastructure and staff development of federal and state universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. TETFUND is managed by an eleven-man board of trustees (BOT) consisting of a member from each zone, including representatives of the Federal Ministries of Education and Finance, and the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS). The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TETFUND is Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim-Imam.

  • TETFUND South-South Zonal Office

The South-South zonal office of TETFUND is responsible for delivering supplementary assistance to public-owned tertiary institutions in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Delta states. There are 19 universities, 13 polytechnics, and several colleges of education that benefit from the Fund in the South-South zone. Infrastructural constructions such as classrooms, lecture theatres, road networks, and offices among others, can be found in these tertiary education centres. In addition, lecturers of these institutions benefit from academic staff training and development programs in terms of sponsorship to Masters and Doctorate programs in local and overseas institutions.

  • TETFUND South East Zonal Office

The South-East zonal office of TETFUND seeks to achieve the objective of using the proceeds from the Education Tax to improve the general conditions of the public tertiary institutions in Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi states. These institutions benefit by being provided with the essential infrastructure for conducive teaching and learning, as well as training of academic staff and other needs that may be deemed fit by the Fund. Infrastructural projects such as hostels, lecture halls, and offices can be found in these public institutions bearing the insignia of TETFUND on them.

  • TETFUND South-West Zonal Office

The South-West zonal office is charged with ensuring the disbursement of the education tax fund, among other things, to the various public institutions in the southwestern part of Nigeria to create enabling environment for learning and teaching. Lecturers in public tertiary institutions benefit from training and development programs sponsored by the FUND In addition, the Fund provides institutional materials and equipment, as well as the construction of infrastructures ranging from classrooms to road networks.

  • TETFUND North West Zonal Office

The North-West zonal office is committed to improving the general conditions of public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Jigawa and Katsina states. These public tertiary institutions are beneficiaries of physical infrastructures, academic staff development programs, and other interventions aimed at rehabilitation, restoration and consolidation of these citadels of learning. TETFUND North West zonal office monitors and evaluates the execution of the numerous intervention projects across 18 universities, 11 polytechnics, and colleges of education in the zone, among other roles.

  • TETFUND North-East Zonal Office

The North East Zone office of TETFUND caters to providing supplementary support to all levels of public-owned tertiary institutions in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe states. These interventions are in the form of constructions of lecture theatres to laboratories, academic staff training and development, and institutional material and equipment. Infrastructural projects constructed as intervention programmes of TETFUND dot the campuses of the 13 public universities, 9 polytechnics, and colleges of education in the zone (as well as across the country) are easy to notice as the TETFUND insignia can be found boldly on these projects.

  • TETFUND North Central Zonal Office

Public tertiary institutions in the Federal Capital territory and Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states are provided with supplementary support aimed at improving the higher education system. These universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are assisted with essential physical infrastructure for learning and teaching, research and publications, among other needs as deemed fit by the Fund.

The contributions of TETFUND to the country’s tertiary education system are enormous. The Fund has injected over 2.5 trillion since the agency kicked off in 2011 into the development of the academic staff, as well as infrastructural projects in public-owned universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. In terms of training and development programs targeted at the academic staff of public tertiary institutions, there have been over 4485 lecturers who have received sponsorship for doctorate degrees overseas, as well as over 3192 candidates who have qualified for Master’s degree programs in overseas tertiary institutions. In addition, several thousands of lecturers have received sponsored training in local universities.

In terms of the provisions of infrastructural projects that are essential for learning and teaching, TETFUND has executed over 150,000 infrastructure projects in the various public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. With 500 billion Naira projected to be earned from TETFUND by 2023, more of these physical infrastructure projects will keep on dotting the campuses of public tertiary institutions.
