History of Stanbic IBTC

Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC. came to be as a result of a merger between Stanbic Bank Nigeria Limited and IBTC Chartered Bank Plc. in 2007. In 2012, the group then adopted a holding company structure in order to comply with the revised regulatory framework as suggested by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The Central bank of Nigeria required that banks either divest from non-core banking financial services or adopt a holdings company structure.

Before the groups merged

IBTC Chartered Bank Plc
