Mr. Isaac Dare, a facilitator with the Civil Society Scalling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) had made it public that more than 13 million children in Nigeria are suffering from malnutrition. The children are below 5 years of age. According to him, these children stand the risk of various developmental and health consequences if solution is not found without delay.
Mr. Issac Dare made this known during a one-day capacity building program organized for government ministries and agencies, non-governmental organizations and the media. Title of the program was based on “Behavioral Change Communication on Nutrition Priorities and the said program was organized by the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN). The program was organized in collaboration with Civil Society Scalling Up Nutrition in Nigeria. The program took place in Asaba on Wednesday.
This report means 37% of children in Nigeria are malnourished. He called on government and well meaning individual in the society to make effort towards stemming the tide.
