Victoria Inyama: Things You Didn’t Know about Her

Victoria Inyama used to be a Nollywood sweetheart until she suddenly disappeared from the movie scene.

She recently returned from her acting hiatus to feature in ‘Talking dolls,’ a 2017 movie which has been rated as one of the best dramas of contemporary Africa.

Who is She?

Victoria was born on the 23rd of November. She became famous in the entertainment scene when she starred in Ripples, a series that was quite popular in 1990s.



Victoria is married to the legendary author, Ben Okri. She relocated to the United Kingdom after she got married and this was responsible for her acting hiatus.

According to Victoria, marriage has really been a great experience as her husband has been very understanding


For Victoria, motherhood comes with a blend of experiences. Her children have made her life exciting although she has become a domestic staff because of the chores associated with taking care of them. It can be annoying at times but the gift of motherhood is certainly something she doesn’t take for granted.


Victoria is currently in Drama School where she’s finetuning her acting skills. She’s also studying Psychology and Counseling in college.

Ben Okri

Victoria’s husband Ben Okri is a trained lawyer and renowned author. He is particularly known for his award winning book, ‘Tarnished road’. His success as a writer began when he wrote his first novel, ‘Flowers and shadows’ at the age of 21.

Ben has won many awards some of which include the Commonwealth Writers Prize, the Guardian Fiction Prize and the Crystal Award.


Although Victoria has lived in the United Kingdom for many years, she still intends to return to Nollywood in the near future. She’s currently in Drama School in the United Kingdom and she believes her experience and training will be quite useful particularly in Nollywood hence her need to return.

Once she returns she would be able to give back to the country that catapulted her to the heights of passion.

Apart from giving back to Nollywood, Victoria also misses her friends in Nollywood. Taking a peek down memory lane, Victoria recalls how she used to chill and hang out with her colleagues.

Mercy Aigbe

Mercy Aigbe is a very good friend of Victoria. They were classmates at the University of Lagos during their undergraduate days.

Victoria was one of the celebrities that showed Mercy support when her marriage recently crashed. It would be recalled that Mercy was a victim of domestic abuse and violence.

Victoria took to social media to encourage her friend. She shared the post on the Mercy Aigbe’s 39th birthday on January 1, 2017. She also shared a throwback picture of the two of them.


Victoria was recently in the middle of some criticism when she criticized Tonto Dikeh’s apology message to Mercy Johnson. It would be recalled that Tonto had called Mercy’s daughter a witch many years.

Victoria was condemned by fans for her action. As many felt that she was trying to instigate a war between the two ladies. Victoria had to take down the post in order to quell the situation.


Victoria came into limelight for her role in the popular TV series, Ripples. It would be recalled that Ripples was a series that was being aired on National TV (NTA) in the 1990s. The series was created and produced by Nollywood Godfather and legendary producer, Zeb Ejiro.

It was Alex Usifo that discovered Victoria and brought her to Nollywood. Alex Usifo is a veteran actor in Nollywood. He’s known for his role in popular movies like Okoro the Prince, Trumpet of Death and Strong men at work.

Victoria took a break from acting when she got married in order to focus on her marriage and motherhood.

Talking dolls

Victoria recently starred in a romance drama, Talking Dolls. The movie was released in 2017 and has enjoyed excellent reviews. The movie featured the likes of Daniel K. Daniel, Belinda Effah, Tamara Komboye, Mofe Duncan, Mike Olaribigbe [Mikes Comedy], Yetunde Oduwole, Kunle Oladeji, Feona Mali, Natalie Deadman, Marie Gomez-Sarkis, Olukunle Fawora and Victoria Inyama.

Talking Dolls addresses societal issues, sex abuse and their shortcomings. The movie was shot in the heart of London, Kent and Essex and was released in U.K, Ghanaian and Nigerian cinemas in the second quarter of 2017.


Victoria has three wonderful children. Her first son recently celebrated his 12th birthday on the 12th of October 2017. She has two other children, Mark and Rachael.


Victoria currently resides in London. According to her; London has certainly being a great experience. Some of the things she has noticed about the city include their respect for life. Also, the availability of light and water as long as you pay your bills is something she finds quite alluring.

Additionally, London is a place that respects the rights of children and women. Particularly, pregnant women are esteemed and treated with utmost dignity and these experiences have made life in London is quite enjoyable for Victoria.


Although Victoria is enjoying every bit of her life in London, she hopes to relocate to Nigeria some day. However, she doesn’t think she would follow the path of many of her colleagues that have ventured into movie production.

Nonetheless, she intends to influence not only the movie industry but the lives of Nigerians positively. This seems to explain why she is currently studying Psychology at a college in London. Victoria believes her training will enable her play a part in solving the stress problem which many Nigerians face.
