Formerly known as the University of Biafra, the University of Nigeria (UNN) is a Federal Government-owned university that was established in 1955 and began full operations in 1960. The university was founded by Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and currently has a student population of over 36000.

UNN has 3 campuses. The Nsukka campus is the largest. The other campuses are the Ituka-Ozalla campus and Enugu campus

The institution is the first full-fledged indigenous and first autonomous university in Nigeria, modelled upon the American educational system.

UNN is one of the five elite universities in Nigeria and the school is made up of 15 Faculties and 102 academic departments. UNN offers 82 undergraduate programs and 211 postgraduate programmes.

These general requirements include:

  • Age Limit: No person under the age of sixteen (16) years may be admitted to the University as a student.
  • UNN also requires all candidates applying for admission into any of its courses to possess 5 credit level passes which must include a credit pass in English Language and a Science subject in not more than two sittings.
  • The entry requirement for Direct Entry must also include the UTME requirement for that particular course.

  1. My son had his jupeb in physics D. Chemistry C and Biology B and was offered Veterinary medicine. After 3years of study due to poor academic performance failed out.Please what could be his best option?
