This type of dealer buys directly from Recharge Card Mega Dealers at a discount price and they in turn sell to the retailers. It is estimated that recharge card wholesaler make between N5,000 to N15,000 daily.

  1. Recharge Card Retailers:

Retailers are recharge card dealers that buy from wholesalers at a cheap and reduced price to sell to normal users. Those people that sell recharge card under umbrellas in the street are recharge card retailers and they make between N500 – N5000 daily.

Prior to commencing your business, you need to decide what type of dealership your business will be. You have the option of mega dealer, wholesaler, or retailer.

As a mega dealer, you will be dealing with major GSM service providers. And your customers will be wholesalers.

For this type of dealership, competition is low but it is capital intensive.

As a wholesaler, you will be buying from the mega dealer, but you will be in charging of printing and selling the cards to retailers while as a retailer, your business is to buy generated pins, then print it out and sell

Generally, as a wholesaler or retailer, you will need the following items:

  • Laptop: If you don’t have a laptop, you can use a cyber cafe or a business centre in your vicinity but if you’re serious about succeeding in business, then you should have a laptop for this business
  • Printer: For convenience, it’s important that you buy your own printer. If you can’t afford one now, you can use a business center near you but it is cheaper to buy yours on the long run.
  • Paper: You will need an A3 or A4 paper to print your recharge card pins.
  • Software: You will need the software to de-encrypt the encrypted pin sent to you so that you can print it out.

There are other options when it comes to printing your recharge cards as a dealer. These include:

  • The online printing option where you print your pins online
  • POS machine printing variant where you print the pins on demand via POS
  • E-PIN manager option

Below is the summary of the process as a retail or wholesale dealer

  • Get an internet enabled laptop or you can use a cyber café.
  • Register with a mega dealer
  • Download their software the mega dealer sends to you and install it on your computer.
  • Order for recharge PINs through their website and pay the required amount you want.
  • They will send you encrypted PINs
  • These pins can only be read or de-encrypted by the company’s software which was send to you.
  • Use the software you downloaded and installed in your computer to de-encrypt those pins and print them out to sell.

If you start with N400,000. You can start by buying stock worth N340,000.

Other expenses include:

  • Transportation: N20,000
  • Salary for sales representative: N20,000
  • Business card: N5,000
  • Phone for sales representative: N10,000
  • Cost of recharge card for calling retailers: N5,000

TOTAL: N60,000

You can expect to sell your stock within 30 days and based on your profit margin you can make an average of N120,000 monthly.
