Early life & Education

Nonso Diobi was born on the 17th July 1976. He is a native of Nawfia, a town in Njikoka, Enugu State, Nigeria.

The actor grew up in Anambra and studied Theatre Arts at the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka. He is the last born from a family of five children.

Diobi revealed in an interview that growing up was tough as his family wasn’t a rich one. His desire to find ways to make ends meet was what spurred him to begin selling clothes to his friends in school.

Career

Diobi began acting as a 15 year old when his family encouraged him to act. The actor has also being business savvy from a young age as he revealed that he used to sell clothes to his mates when he was secondary school.

The actor disclosed that he was paid N15000 for his first Nollywood movie. He also revealed that the first audition he went for, he failed woefully because he was scared and nervous. But the director didn’t give up on him till he got it right.

Diobi made his debut on-screen appearance in a 2001 film titled Border Line and the actor has featured in over 150 films since his debut.

In 2015, Diobi was rumoured to have been shot dead on set but it has since being refuted as the actor is alive and well.

In a recent interview, Nonso disclosed that he hasn’t had sex in over 2 years because he hasn’t been in an intimate relationship.

But he revealed that he plans to get married soon and start a family within the next 10 years.

According to the actor, his reason for not being married is because he doesn’t want to rush into marriage as he believes it is a lifetime contract hence he doesn’t want to rush in only to regret it later.

Over the years, Diobi has been able to keep his personal life private so it may come as a shock if one day he announces that he has gotten married.
