Muyiwa Ademola: Biography, Career, Movies & More

Popularly called Muyiwa Authentic, his full name is Muyiwa Ademola and he is a famous Nollywood Yoruba actor, film-maker and director.

He is particularly known for producing and directing the award winning movie, ‘Ori’. Ademola is also a talented script writer.

Early life

Ademola was born on the 26th of January 1971 at Abeokuta, in Ogun State in Nigeria. He was raised in Ibadan where he attended St. David’s High School at Molete in Ibadan where he obtained the West Africa Secondary School Certificate.

Ademola proceeded to the University of Ibadan in 2006. He obtained a Bachelor of Education degree in Adult Education and Community Development.

Career

Prior to his journey into acting, Ademola had been writing stories even from his primary school days.

When he was in secondary school, he went to meet Shola Ogunsola popularly called Isho Pepper but he was told he was too small.

After secondary school, he continued writing stories and giving them to people in the film industry and that was how he got his first major contact with Charles Olumo, popularly known as Agbako who was at that time based in his hometown, Abeokuta.

He later met a movie director called S.I Ola who taught him acting and the important aspects of movie production. Ademola began his acting career officially in 1991.

The actor revealed that he shot his first film in 1997. The movie was titled Etutu Emi. Some of the other movies include Aderonke Akinkanju, Iyonu Olorun and Ogo Osupa. However, it was Ogo Osupa that shot him to limelight.

In 1995, he produced his first ever written script into a movie titled Asise meaning Blunder in English. It was sponsored by Dibel.

The actor has produced, directed and featured in several Yoruba Nollywood movies.

Awards

In 2005, his film Ori (Fate) won the best indigenous film at the maiden edition of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). The event had Hollywood Danny Glover in attendance.

In 2008, he was nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Award for the award of Most Outstanding Indigenous Actor at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Accident

On January 2013, Ademola was involved in a fatal accident, which almost resulted in his death.

Marriage

Ademola got married on the 23rd of June 2006 to Omolara. The couple met in Abeokuta through a friend’s friend. They dated for 4 years before tying the knot.

According to Omolara, it was love at first sight. She also revealed that it is patience and trust that has kept their marriage till date.

Omolara also mentioned the fact that Ademola is a gentle and God-fearing man of God. She hails from Ondo State

Prior to his marriage to Omolara; Ademola was in a relationship that produced a set of twins. Interestingly, Omolara has been taking care of the twins since they were 7 years old.

Omolara is a business woman and she combines that with supporting her husband in his Nollywood career.

Controversy

A few years ago, the media was agog with a rumour that Ademola’s wife and Mosun Filani had fought over the actor. In fact it was revealed that Ademola’s wife, Omolara had poured acid on the actress. But the actor’s wife has since dispelled the rumours.

Relocation

In November 2016, Ademola left the country with his family to Texas in the United States of America.

Initially, it was assumed that the actor and his family travelled for a vacation however it was surprising when Ademola returned 3 months later alone.

A close source to the family revealed that the actor relocated his family because he wanted a sound education for his children.

Death of Nollywood Stars

In 2017, at least 4 Nollywood movie stars died in the space of one month and Ademola attributed this recent death to accumulated stress.

According to him, actors and actresses work around the colleague and don’t usually make out time to see the doctor.

House

Ademola completed his mansion in Oluyole Estate in Ibadan in 2013. The property is said to be worth over N20 million. It is a 5 bedroom duplex

Car Gift

The actor received a car gift from Apostle Tope Onileowo, founder of Rock of Prayer Christian Centre in Houston in Texas.

The apostle had watched Ori for the first time in 2013. It would be recalled that Ori was released in 2004 and the movie won the award for the Best Indigenous Film at the Africa Movie Academy Award.

Ori was also nominated for Best Musical Score at the same award but it didn’t win.

Twins

Ademola has twin boys from an unnamed lady many years ago. The twins were born on the 25th of July 1997 and currently live in America with his family. According to an insider, it ws said that the couple parted ways because of religious differences and the inability of their parents to reach a compromise.

Secret of Success

The actor attributes his success to God and his diligence. He revealed that he sometimes spends 10 years writing just one script.

Caucus

The actor belongs to the TAMPAN Caucus along with the likes of Femi Adebayo, Toyosi Adesanya, Toyin Abraham, Adebayo Tijani, Afeez Eniola, Opeyemi Adetunji and Dele Odule.

Embarassing moment

According to the actor, his most embarrassing moment was when he met a lady in Ireland and she opened her breast for him to pen his signature.
