How to Get a Job in Qatar (from Nigeria)

Qatar has been somewhat of a hot topic recently with majority of people from other countries relishing the chance to move to the greener pastures of the oil rich Arab Peninsula. With it’s skyscrapers, it’s superbly stable economy, it’s ever expanding means of stability and sustenability and to to top it all, it’s just over 2 Million population, it’s little wonder everyone wants to head over to Qatar.

Getting a job in Qatar from Nigeria is something that keeps happening time and time again and though Qatar is one of those countries that prefers in-house employment, Nigerians  are still being employed from Qatar, after which they’ll get an invite from their company of employment and travel over to resume work. Sounds interesting? Then this little piece of information can help shed more light.

Also, just because more and more stories of people falling prey to the fraudulent claws of agents who claim to have been in the business of getting jobs for Nigerians travelling to Qatar for years keeps on emanating, we won’t be discussing agents.

Going to Qatar

Many Nigerians, seeking greener pastures have become victims of fraud by ‘so-called’ agents because of their quest to get people who will help them get a job in Qatar from Nigeria so we won’t be discussing agents, since getting a job can be done by oneself.

Also, the ability to speak Arabic might come in handy because most people you’ll be meeting in Qatar, should you land your job might not be able to speak other international languages.

Sites to visit

Getting a job in Qatar from Nigeria would of course require your time to keep applying to job openings that are offered to both residents and international applicants.

  • quaterliving.com
  • careers.qatarairways.com
  • gulfjobsites.com
  • bayt.com
  • 1qatarjobs.com

Keep checking for openings that relate to your experience field on these sites and apply with accurate and correct information.

Try as much as possible to gather enough information regarding all the professional certificates that relates to the job you’re applying for.

It’s mostly the Construction and Oil &Gas sector that recruit directly from Nigeria as other sectors look into the local market.

You must get a work visa first after you must have gotten all the related certificates that are going to be useful for your job search.

For your working visa to be granted, you would request the employing firm in Qatar to send a letter of request to the Qatar embassy in Nigeria with a copy of your signed employment letter attached to the request letter.

The following documents are required for processing your Qatar Working Visa along with your application:

A valid international passport, with a validity not less than six months from the applicants intended stay at Qatar. The passport should also have pages available for placement of Visa.

  • Two 2″ x 2″colored passport sized photographs.
  • Photocopies of the information page of your international passport.
  • Statement of account.
  • Personal Letter to the Qatar Embassy with your credentials and letter(s) from your employer.

The Visa processing takes up to 12 business days for a tourist Visa and up to a month for a working Visa.

Getting job in Qatar when you qualify is great, although sometimes it may be tough too just like anywhere in the world.
