If you’ve never heard of Tonto Dike, then you are either not a Nigerian or you are just not a fan of Nigerian movies or music. Every movie lover, critic or observer in Nigeria and in Africa generally, would know who this sultry actress is, if not for her daring roles in movies, then for her widely criticized musical singles released in 2013.
Tonto Dikeh as we all know her, was born Tonto Charity Dikeh on the 9th day of June, 1985 in the Ikwerre part of Rivers State. Tonto lost her mum at a tender age of three, and had to be raised by her step mother and father along with seven other siblings. Tonto has publicly shown deep affection for her step mother several times, calling her “The best stepmother in the world”.
She had her primary and secondary education in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and then moved on to the University of Port Harcourt to bag a degree in Petrochemical Engineering.
Tonto Dike: Movies
Tonto’s career in the movie industry started in 2005 when she competed in a reality Television show; The Next Movie Star. Although Tonto Dike didn’t win the contest, she came close to winning by finishing up as the first runner-up on the show.
Her stellar performance in the competition helped her gain popularity in the movie industry really fast. Shortly after the show ended, she was approached by the producers of the movie ‘Holy Cross’ to star as the lead actress. She performed beautifully in this movie and after that, torrents of movie roles came pouring down for Tonto Dike.
Tonto Dike: Dirty Secrets
In 2010, Tonto Dike starred in the highly controversial movie, Dirty Secrets alongside late actor Muna Obiekwe. Tonto received widespread criticism for her role in the ‘Soft Porn’ movie, with many Nigerians describing her role and actions in the movie as indecent and irresponsible.
Tonto Dike: Music
In 2012, Tonto decided to take another bold step and ventured into the music industry. She released two singles ‘Hi’ and ‘It’s Ova’ featuring Snypa. The singles received mixed reviews, with one party applauding her efforts, and the other advising that she stay away from music and stick to acting.
This did not stop Tonto from pursuing her passion; as she went on to release another single ‘Crazically Fit’ in which she featured singer ‘Terry G’. In 2012, another Nigerian Musician, Dbanj announced that he had signed Tonto Dike on to his record label, DB records and unveiled her new nickname ‘Pokolee’.
Tonto Dike: Boyfriend
Tonto Dike has been romantically linked to several guys in the past. At a point, the rumor mills were agog with stories of Tonto Dike and Ayo Balogun(Wizkid) being a couple, a story that both of them vehemently denied. She was also rumored to have dated Don Jazzy, Dbanj, Micheal Awujoola(Malivelihood) and a couple of other guys in the past.
In February 2015, Tonto Dike revealed via her Instagram page that she was now dating Olakunle Oladunni, a popular Lagos Socialite also popularly called ‘Churchhill’

No doubt, Tonto Dike is a great lover of tattoos. She once revealed that she had over 58 tattoos on her body.
In spite of her seemingly controversial lifestyle, Tonto Dike seems to be involved in a lot of charitable and religious activities.
