Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan yesterday inaugurated a 24-man dialogue committee aimed at helping resolve the insecurity in the North.
The Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challengesin the North, has been saddled with the responsibility of establishing the link and opening up dialogue with members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect. It is also expected to arrange for disarmament by working out sustainable options that could lead to granting amnesty to the terrorist group.
President Jonathan said to the members of the committee:
“All Nigerians are expecting this committee to perform magic and we pray that Allah should give you the wisdom to do so, because without peace we can’t develop, no matter how committed we are. Without peace we cannot progress as a nation.”
