The different types of Visas that you can apply for include tourist visas, business visas, student’s visas and other specialized types of Visas.

Tourist visas

As a tourist in India, you are only allowed to stay for six months before you are expected to return to Nigeria. Documents you need to apply for a tourist visa include your international passport, visa application form duly filled and signed, your visa processing fees and a letter of invitation from your referee in India or an undertaking to book your accommodation on arrival and you are all set to enjoy your family holidays in India.

Business visas

To apply for a business visa to India, you need a statement written on a letter headed paper by the company you are travelling to do business with in India, showing that they are ready to incur maintenance cost, the length of period you would stay with them and how your expertise applies to their business.

You would also need to submit a written statement in your own company’s letter head, which explains your operation and the duration of your stay in India.

A proof of your financial standing is required, as well as a letter showing your expertise in the field of the intended business and your company’s registration and business proposal.

Student visas

To obtain a student visa you need to present a letter of admission from the institution in India you intend to study, proof that you can support yourself financially and all academic qualifications you have to back you up.

The visa application process includes the following stages;

  • Prepare all the requested documents and fill the visa application form accordingly.
  • Book your appointment and ensure you get there on time on the appointment day. The timings for collection of passports are 9am to 11am from Mondays to Friday while Visa collection timing is from 4.30pm to 5pm, Mondays through Fridays as well.
  • Submit all documents and ensure you make all clear copies as requested and your signatures are legible.
  • Lastly, when all is done, you can track the status of your application online.
