The Imo State government led by Governor Rocha’s Okorocha have threatened to sack all Imo State university staff and recruit new ones for the looming strike for the past months.

Governor Okorocha reading the riot law to IMSU staff said the emolument of IMSU staff is higher than what is obtained in other state South Eastern universities.

Governor Okorocha however admitted to making a promise of N800million to the institution but insisted that non redemption of his promise is not enough for the staff of the university to embark on an indefinite strike.

He further accused lecturers of the university of not being happy with the free university education he introduced in the state for Imo State indegenes.

In his words he said “Honestly, if the workers fail to call off the strike, I will hire new teachers and concession the university to any willing investor, in the interest of our children.
“I have discovered that most IMSU lecturers are not happy with the free education programme of my administration. They want it to fail. Perhaps, they want the students to pay school fees and this is not what I am prepared to accommodate.”
